Historia
When, at age forty-six, Nancy Pelosi, mother of five, asked her youngest daughter if she should run for Congress, Alexandra Pelosi answered: “Mother, get a life!” And so Nancy did, and what a life it has been. In The Art of Power, Pelosi describes for the first time what it takes to make history—not only as the first woman to ascend to the most powerful legislative role in our nation, but to pass laws that would save lives and livelihoods, from the emergency rescue of the economy in 2008 to transforming health care.

A fascinating and honest review of decades of public service
Revisado: 11-07-24
Enjoyed it all as it refreshed and clarified the history I have lived through. So sad that many of the great people she talks about are dead or no longer in office. Very sad that the awful ones are still there..

Queen Elizabeth in this story was awful! A terrible person. I hope this was not a true representation.the best use of this recording was to put me to sleep.

Thoroughly enjoyable. Although a fantasy, Ms Smiley obviously knows her animals. Sad when it ended.

I did not enjoy this book
Revisado: 06-10-21
I listened to the whole book because I wanted to know what led to the main character being asked to leave her husband. Why she stopped nursing a baby and what the blood was from. It was a dark and somewhat confusing story. Also I did not find the ending acceptable.

Somehow I missed reading this as a child, but so enjoyed it as an adult. A truly classic story that even if you have read it in the past is so enjoyable listening to as an audible book.

Historia
Dear Reader: When I think of Heart of the Night, I think of one of the characters in the book, late-night disc jockey Jared Snow. So do many of my readers, if the mail they send me is any indication. It's his voice - always his voice - there on the radio, as soothing as a massage and twice as sexy. For me, Jared Snow is also a concept, the idea that a single voice on the radio is heard by many different people, with a different effect on each.

Heart of the Night a waste of time
Revisado: 04-26-11
This is a very poorly written book. The plot was okay but the dialogue and characters were vacuous. Also the author gives away the major plot twist in the beginning of the book. Can you give minus stars? I am glad I bought it on sale.
