Historia
This first novel in The Deptford Trilogy introduces Ramsay, a man who returns from World War I decorated with the Victoria Cross but who is destined to be caught in a no man's land where memory, history, and myth collide. As we hear Ramsey tell his story, we begin to realize that, from childhood, he has influenced those around him in a perhaps mystical, perhaps pernicious way.

A visual book-- not worth the audio version
Revisado: 10-22-20
Don't get me wrong, this was a pretty good listen. I really think that both Trixie and Katya would be great narrators and did an excellent job narrating. But like so many similar books, it's a rehashing of material that we've heard before, for the most part. It's 3 hours and change-- about the length of what, 3 podcast episodes? That would be fine, if the audio version had included the HEAVY amount of visual content, which let's be honest, was the main point of this book. I certainly wouldn't have paid $30~ for this, but I'm disappointed that I wasted a credit on it.

Historia
A revolutionary approach to the techniques of working with horses, by a renowned instructor. In Horses Never Lie, renowned horse trainer Mark Rashid challenges the conventional wisdom of "alpha leadership" and teaches the listener to become a "passive leader" - a counterpart to the kind of horse other members of a herd choose to associate with and to follow. Applying Rashid’s principles and techniques helps cultivate horse personalities that are responsive and dependable regardless of the rider.

Really great book. To the point, intuitive, no BS. I will for sure be buying this author (and narrator)'s other books in the near future.

It's a race against the clock in this tale of danger and intrigue. In the glitzy era of the 1920s, charming armature sleuths, Tommy and Tuppence set out to solve the mysterious disappearance of a client and unravel a mysterious plot involving blackmail, international intrigue, and perhaps even the sinking of the Lusitania. When labor unrest erupts in England, the situation could turn deadly if a state secret falls into the wrong hands, but Tuppence has no qualms in accepting a job offer to stop that from happening.

Can't stand the narration
Revisado: 12-22-19
Narration is pretty bad, I listened to 1.5 hours of it and could not continue. The narrator seems to just say one word after another, rather than put appropriate emphasis on words in a sentence, etc. In addition, the "female" voices are really irritating. I have returned this book.

I absolutely love the narrator, Hugh Fraser. These aren't my favourite of Christie's books, however.

Response to "incorrect" pronunciation of "gaol"
Revisado: 12-03-19
From: grammarphobia.com/blog/2013/12/jail-gaol.html
"The short answer, according to Oxford Dictionaries online, is that the word “gaol” was “originally pronounced with a hard g, as in goat.” Here's a fuller answer. “Etymologically, a jail is a 'little cage,' ” John Ayto says in his Dictionary of Word Origins."
The narrator is NOT in fact pronouncing "gaol" incorrectly. He's spot-on.
