Historia
Mira James has had it up to here with Battle Lake, Minnesota. After her latest romantic prospects go bust, she’s ready to move back to the Twin Cities and get a lapful of cats. Funny how murder can stall the best-laid plans. Days before the August Moon Festival, high school cheerleader Lucy Lebowski, Mira’s library assistant and an all-around sweetheart, is murdered.

Tell me more
Revisado: 08-23-24
Jess’a writing is engaging. I read this book out of series order and plan to start at book one. I enjoyed the character build, unraveling story and with Jess there is always an ending that keeps the suspense. Fabulous!

Historia
With a cheating boyfriend, a thankless career in waitressing, and her BA in English going to waste, Mira James jumps at the chance for a fresh start in rural Battle Lake, Minnesota. Right away she lands a job as a librarian, snags another as an on-call reporter for the weekly newspaper, and is swept off her feet by Jeff Wilson, a handsome archaeologist unearthing the town’s storied history. Moving here might be the best decision Mira’s ever made. Until she finds Jeff’s body between the library’s reference stacks.

Connective story
Revisado: 06-08-24
This book was really well written. A mystery that offered twists and turns that kept my interest in unraveling the story. Just enough detail for a wonderful visualization of the town, the people and journey. Nice performance of the audio as well. Thanks Jess for sharing your brilliant writing with the world!

Historia
Patric Gagne realized she made others uncomfortable before she started kindergarten. Something about her caused people to react in a way she didn’t understand. She suspected it was because she didn’t feel things the way other kids did. Emotions like fear, guilt, and empathy eluded her. For the most part, she felt nothing. And she didn’t like the way that “nothing” felt.

Informative Awareness
Revisado: 05-15-24
As a behavioral health professional, I found this reading interesting and educational. Following the journey of mental health for sociopathy can be skewed and disconnected. Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing in support of bringing great awareness to humanizing a difficult diagnosis.

Historia
Cassie McDowell’s life in 1980s Minnesota seems perfectly wholesome. She lives on a farm, loves school, and has a crush on the nicest boy in class. Yes, there are her parents’ strange parties and their parade of deviant guests, but she’s grown accustomed to them. All that changes when someone comes hunting in Lilydale. One by one, local boys go missing. One by one, they return changed - violent, moody, and withdrawn. What happened to them becomes the stuff of shocking rumors. The accusations of who’s responsible grow just as wild, and dangerous town secrets start to surface.

Woah, awesome read!!
Revisado: 01-20-20
Such a great book. Intense. I was at the edge of my seat the entire read wondering what was next. The characters were so well developed that I could absolutely bring them to life in my imagination. Such a powerful storyline emerged around so many heavy topics with a lightness that made it palatable. Very well written Jess! I want this story to continue!!!
