Not remarkable, not bad either
Revisado: 08-24-18
This was an easy listen which I enjoyed but haven't thought about since. The Bill Clinton connection is what intrigued me. I would've enjoyed an interview at the end about the collaboration between the former president and James Patterson, but that was not included.

Intriguing Listen
Revisado: 08-24-18
This book intrigued me from the start and kept me engaged the whole time. At one point I thought I was near the end only to find out there were still 2 hours left - a pleasant surprise since I couldn't predict how the story would continue. Usually I speed up my books but the pace, writing and narrator's voice compelled me to savor every minute. When I finished the book I started it right up again - something I rarely do. I only re-listened to the first few chapters but was impressed with all the foreshadowing I had overlooked. Note, one must enjoy magic realism to enjoy this story.

Interesting insights into contemporary Japan
Revisado: 05-05-18
I enjoy learning about Japan and a Japanese culture. I liked this story because it provided an insight into the life of an average, modern Japanese person (it takes place in the late 1980's to early 1990's). While not a "page turner," I did stay engaged with the story and main character.

A modern view of South Africa
Revisado: 05-05-18
If you enjoyed The Power of One, you will enjoy this updated insight into life in South Africa. And vice versa. This was great as an audiobook - especially since it is read by the author. His presentation and tone added a lot of context for the stories.

Revisado: 05-05-18
I've always been interested in Japan and its culture. When I found out that Remains of the Day was written by a Japanese Englishman, I was intrigued. This short speech from Mr. Ishiguro was interesting and insightful. I look forward to reading more of his books now that I know more about the author.

Ahhh, to be a 12 year old girl again
Revisado: 05-05-18
I enjoyed this book much more than I expected to. I kept thinking of Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird - the main character has curiosity, spunk and dreams. While the book came to a logical end, I found I wanted to know more about Frankie and her life growing up. I will read more by Carson McCullers. Thank you Suzanne Vega, for bringing Carson McCullers to my attention via your new play and soundtrack.
