Disliked it so much

I’ll admit I didn’t listen to the last 2 hours. I just couldn’t take it anymore. There was no building of any love between them and throughout the 8 hours I did listen to, I could not figure out what they saw in each other. He was jealous and controlling, quick to anger. She was oblivious and not honest with him. I kept trying to like this couple, but just could not. I hated how they handled things with the kids. I hated how he yelled. Just…no. Narration was good, but I cannot recommend this book. Honestly, the only reason I went as long as I did was the duet narration, always a fave.

OMG, it just went on forever. I’ll admit, I didn’t even listen to the last 30 minutes. I was just over it. The entire book demonstrates how these two people are completely incompatible and it’s hard to understand why they are even together. And it just goes on and on and on in that vein until I’m so frustrated with her for not standing up for herself. But of course, they work things out in the end and live happily ever after, but by then I didn’t care and still didn’t understand what they saw in each other. I have loved some of Sophie Kinsella’s other books, but cannot recommend this one at all. Narrator did a lovely job, though.

Not believable

I really liked the first (well, second. The first one isn’t on Audible) in this series. I was laughing out loud and really enjoying the story, so I couldn’t wait for this one. But this one was….kind of dumb. The 21 year old spoke about sex and masturbation so casually, with just about everyone, in a way I found ridiculous and unbelievable. The narrators were great and the overall story was decent, but some of the dialogue was just cringeworthy. And way too many sex scenes for my taste. So, meh for me. Now I’m off to find the next book in the series, hoping it’s more like the first.

Not very deep

If you like surface level romance books and lots of sex scenes, this series is for you. Good narrators (Jacob Morgan NEVER disappoints) definitely help. I liked all the characters well enough…there just isn’t a lot of depth to any of the relationships. They go from having hot sex to being in love and it’s hard to see the transition. But, light easy reads if you’re looking for that.

Predictable, but good

This book was predictable to the point that I knew who she would choose pretty much in the first chapter. And the entire concept was pretty cheesy. BUT. I loved it anyway. There are plenty of funny moments that had me giggling out loud and a few moments that brought tears to my eyes. The narrator does a wonderful job, too. Overall, it’s a light, easy read and I enjoyed it.

I fast forwarded through the last 2 hours. I just couldn’t take it anymore. I found the main character annoying, the storyline meandering and non-cohesive, and the entire thing was just wayyy too long. I’m annoyed at how many hours I waited for something interesting to happen.

Lackluster

I wanted to love this book. I’ve loved others by this author, but this one was just…..lackluster. It was kind of boring most of the way through, nothing much happening until the very end. And then the case was cracked randomly, not through any police work. I just felt underwhelmed all the way through and now I’m sad. The narrator wasn’t my fave, either. No one could correct her pronunciation of paprika Dan patina??

Such a great listen! This is the first book from this author for me, and I’m definitely off to search for the next one. It was an engaging listen, made me laugh at times and had me emotional at others. The narrator was fantastic as well and breathed life into all of the characters. Highly recommend!
