I thoroughly enjoyed Jana Monroe’s autobiographical account of her life’s work and experience at the FBI. The story-telling was authentic and gripping. There was the unavoidable strong dose of gore and horror that came with the territory. It wasn’t always easy to swallow except for how true it was. I especially loved how honest yet balanced Ms Monroe was with her take on events and people in her life. She may have been slightly restrained but she surely didn’t sugarcoat. Her impact spoke for itself; she didn’t have to sell anything. The book was even-keeled in exploring the darkness, and the honest struggles to retain one’s humanity and hope in the face of such unfathomable bleakness. As the foreward writer promised, this has been a glimpse into the life of a trailblazing, passionate woman who is outstanding, courageous and downright inspiring. I will read/listen to this again in time.
