I appreciated this book

This book is a slow burn, but the characters are compelling. They grow and interact in authentic ways. I appreciated the romance and the “fade to black” style since I don’t prefer explicit details in historical fiction. Altogether it was a fun book.

Slow burn big payoff

This book is paced slowly at first, but isn’t boring at all. It builds history so rich and thick you can feel it. The weight and impact of the final chapters only works because of the slow burn. Stick it out, you’ll be glad you did!
It is similar to Gene Stratton Porter’s Limberlost series, and a bit like Where the Crawdads Sing.
