Historia
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Fascinating and well narrated
Revisado: 11-23-21
I don’t know where they found this narrator, but I cannot imagine a better voice to read this extensive chunk of text. The book itself is superbly interesting. I would not recommend going faster than the standard 1.0 speed. Unlike a lot of other books, this one is so dense that going faster than 1.0 won’t give you enough time to process everything you’re reading.

Historia
Mary Lennox starts her life as an unhappy victim of circumstance. After the loss of her parents, she moves to rural Yorkshire to live with a distant uncle where she resents the wildness of the countryside. At first, she struggles to find a place in this new existence. Although unsure about her surroundings and its occupants, through the gentle guidance of the maid she gradually becomes interested in the story of Mrs Craven, who apparently used to spend her time in a garden at the house, the key to which has vanished.

Great classic story and well narrated. It was delightful to listen to this childhood story again as an adult, I found it very soothing.

Will give you nightmares
Revisado: 07-30-21
Terrifyingly written and amazingly narrated, this story will leave you feeling uneasy when the characters do something as mundane as eat breakfast. For those of you who have seen the Netflix show, though the show completely changes the basic story, the plot, characters, and creeping fear are the same. An absolute must listen if you’ve seen the show. I found the audiobook scarier than the TV show - the story is well written and the narration is phenomenal.

This was creepy, unnerving, well written and fantastically narrated. I loved every second of it.

So-So Story w Good Narration
Revisado: 05-06-21
I listened to this right after finishing the original Woman in Black, and that affected my opinion of this story. It’s immediately clear the writing is not as good as Susan Hill’s - the characters do things that don’t make sense and are rather annoying and the Woman in Black is not as scary. I almost stopped listening several times. However, the narration was pretty good and it was fun to hear the same context in a different time. In short, it was fine.
