Amazing book!
Revisado: 01-20-24
This book is daunting to read or even start to listen to. I have the physical book (a preorder 😊) and the audio version. It’s been on my “to read” list for a while. Thanks to a recent trip where I couldn’t do what I planned, I started listening to it. It was everything I love about Peter Attia’s podcasts and YouTube interviews and then some.
Geeking out over science and data to help people live better? This is right up my alley. There were times I got lost in the audio version bc it is so jam packed with information that it made me glad I had the book to reference.
But for the most part I kept up with the audio version. Your vocal coach did right by you. It was well read and well paced.
The structure of the book was excellent. I particularly love the part about the importance of stability. It is SO critical.
If you can’t tell, I can’t find anything not to like.
The part where you tell your story though—that’s what makes you real. I’m sure you know that chapter will save a lot of people’s lives.
I can’t wait to go back and study/listen to this book some more.
I’m so glad you persevered. You gave the world a real gift. 🎁

Luvvie Ajayi Jones is known for her trademark wit, warmth, and perpetual truth-telling. But even she's been challenged by the enemy of progress known as fear. She was once afraid to call herself a writer, and nearly skipped out on doing a TED talk that changed her life because of imposter syndrome. As she shares in Professional Troublemaker, she's not alone.

Historia
We all face countless decisions throughout our careers. The specific circumstances that call us to lead will be different, but the core dilemmas and ethical challenges are very similar. Faced with these challenges, each of us must decide if we will follow our ego-centered inclinations or lead for the good of everyone whose lives we touch? Will we endanger or impair those around us to satisfy our own self-interest, or will we lead in a manner that is true to our values?

Really stellar book

I’ve read more than a few of these healthcare leadership books. This one stands head and shoulders above so many of them. It’s honest, straightforward, and clear. It’s a guiding beacon that we can all use to make our healthcare industry and communities better. Thank you for writing this and being so “disciplined, courageous, and durable”.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Incredible book with an incredible narrator
Revisado: 07-09-15
I have not traditionally been a fan of WWII fiction but it seems I have read several of them lately. This one hooked me very early on. I listened to the Audible version in my car and the lovely French reading was so much a part of this book for me. I became anxious to keep the story going enough that I bought the Kindle version too (first time I've done that). Not only were there some technical glitches with Audible and Kindle knowing where I was on the other device (operator error perhaps?) but I found I could not read it in my head as beautifully as the narrator could. Much sadness.
The story line is compelling from the beginning and continues to take (mostly) believable twists and turns throughout the book. A beautiful story of family and all that it can be for each other and sometimes do to each other.
Vague review I know but I don't want to give anything away. I appreciate twists of phrases that are well-placed, sentences laden with meaning, and stories about strong women. This one is a keeper.

Most excellent!

One of the best books I've had the pleasure of encountering in a long time. I knew I'd be sad to hear it end. The narrator does a superb job. It occupied many hours of commuting and I would even find excuses for listening to it at home which I never really do with my commuter books.
Incredibly crafted. Beautiful phrasing. A book that makes you feel like a better human for having incorporated it into your being.
