Historia
In 2012, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device left Dan Crenshaw's right eye destroyed and his left blinded. Only through the careful hand of his surgeons, and what doctors called a miracle, did Crenshaw's left eye recover partial vision. And yet, he persevered, completing two more deployments. Why? There are certain stories we tell ourselves about the hardships we face—we can become paralyzed by adversity or we can adapt and overcome. We can be fragile or we can find our fortitude. Crenshaw delivers a set of lessons to help you do just that.

Excellent book and excellent read by Dan
Revisado: 11-14-22
I was motivated, inspired, and entertained. It was a pleasure to learn more about Dan's life and the way he thinks. I'll probably listen again in several months as a reminder of the great people in our great country and to not let the outrage seep in to the way I think and interact.

Historia
Will Robie escaped his small Gulf Coast hometown of Cantrell, Mississippi, after high school, severing all personal ties, and never looked back. Not once. Not until the unimaginable occurs. Unlike the missions Robie undertook in the service of his country, where his target was clearly defined, digging into his father's case only reveals more questions. Robie is drawn into the hidden underside of Cantrell, where he must face the unexpected and possibly deadly consequences of the long-ago choices made by father and son.

Good book, just different than prior in series
Revisado: 09-09-21
The story was good, it was great to understand the characters and the description of the region. It is different than prior in the series, but still captivating; and made me want to listen. In fact, some of the negative or critical reviews made me want to listen more. I am a fan of Baldacci, and listened to the Memory Man series before this series. This book seemed to turn a little more toward the Memory Man style of writing. I really don't care for the narrator. Hos voice in no way fits the character of Will Robie, abd is very distracting. Also, the big swings in volume of his voice make it difficult to listen when driving or with any background noise and not miss words. The production is poor, in my opinion. I found the same in the Memory Man series books read by this narrator.

Historia
Will Robie may have just made the first - and last - mistake of his career.... It begins with a hit gone wrong. Robie is dispatched to eliminate a target unusually close to home in Washington, D.C. But something about this mission doesn't seem right to Robie, and he does the unthinkable: He refuses to kill. Now, Robie becomes a target himself and must escape from his own people.
Fleeing the scene, Robie crosses paths with a wayward teenage girl, a 14-year-old runaway from a foster home. But she isn't an ordinary runaway....

Eons before the birth of the Roman Empire, there was a civilization dedicated to the sciences of Earth, sea, and sky. In the City of Light lived people who made dark plans to lay waste to their uncivilized neighbors using the very power of the planet itself. As the great science of their time was brought to bear on the invading hordes, hell was set loose on Earth. This book is an incredible story of the bridge and it seems all of the people involved with it. There were areas that had more detail than I thought necessary, but overall very good and with a good narrator.
