Disappointing conclusion

I really enjoyed the story until the very last chapter. This was a long book that, with a little development of a couple of characters, probably could have been made into three books. When you get to the final chapter and particularly the epilogue, it felt like the author had had enough and just wanted the story to end. As the final chapter ended without some important storyline conclusions, I checked the time remaining and knew I was going to be disappointed since the epilogue was only three mint. Please, in the future, invest the time to wrap up storylines appropriately. This review would be five stars if you had invested the time for these characters.

Love the prequel idea but please work on character voices

Love the storyline, giving us the history of Mark Tudor. I also appreciate that we have a new narrator and he did a great job for the most part. Love hearing the story of Mark Tudor! The prequel idea is a great addition to the series. However, having listened to all the previous Backyard Starship books and become vested in the characters, it’s hard to get used to new accents or pronunciations. I think Tom’s a great narrator but in this case, I think it would have been a good idea to stick to the previous story accents (Perry in particular). It’s so hard to get used to his character’s new voice. Good job overall, though, and just a great addition to the Backyard Starship storyline. Looking forward to the next book!!

A nice change

I don’t normally write reviews but for once, I felt compelled to do so. I don’t understand all the negative reviews. I thought it was a good story (fiction, obviously) and the narration was very well done. But what made this one stand out for me was the accuracy when talking about the trees and forests. I’ve listened to hundreds of audiobooks and I believe this is the first time I’ve found an author who has actually taken the time to get things right from a botanical standpoint. While that’s trivial for most, as a forester, it’s so hard to listen to blatant inaccuracies and I appreciate the author getting things right. I enjoyed the story and will look for her other books.

Fantastic series!

While I had a bit of a hard time following the different character storylines at first, I quickly became invested in them. This is a fantastic series that is well worth a listen. If you don’t tear up at the end…. Well, let’s just say this series does not disappoint.

I’m a GE fan and have purchased every book in the series. This one I had to return. I really tried to get into it as I love the GE series but the narration was just insurmountable. Please consider rereleasing with a different narrator.

Good story; not so good narrator/editing

Worth a listen if you can get past the narration. I dislike being critical of narrators but this one really needs some advice from the more successful narrators, as do the editors.

Please make sure words are pronounced correctly and if unsure, look them up. Editors should have caught the many mispronunciations, as well as duplicated lines. If you can get past the narration, the story itself is a good ‘read’. Its a shame that many will quit listening due to mistakes by the narrator/editing staff.
