Heart wrenching read

As a woman born in 1950 I could relate to the struggles of women during that era. Very clear memory of my very loving, open minded father was having him tell me if I didn't plan to be a teacher or a nurse then I should not even consider going to college-space needed to be saved for the men coming home from the war. As the wife of a green Beret who served in Vietnam, this book had me in tears. I never could relate to the stories he would share and encouraged him to join groups at the VA.
My husband was heavily decorated and came home wounded, but he had his arms and legs and never considered that he was wounded or worthy of assistance. He suffered dearly from PTSD and struggled for years until he finally went for help. I cannot imagine how difficult life was for the nurses after seeing and doing what they did. I have always been grateful and respectful of our service members, but am overwhelmed with sorrow that these brave women really never did get their welcome home.
Great book.

There might have been a story but the reading was so bad I had to quit listening.

Just can't listen to this

I don't mean to be rude, but the narration is horrible. The story might be interesting but I finally just stopped and removed this from my device. Not worth the frustration listening was causing.

Enjoyable story

I thought the characters were likable and relatable. Listening was easy. I look forward to future books in the series.
