Why is every woman ‘broken’?
Revisado: 01-14-25
In every story, a woman is ‘broken’, vulnerable, has no self-esteem, and at her lowest point when she meets the man. That’s the worst time to meet a man! I wish the women were more confident and sure of themselves.

Martin and Peggy Chance believe love should last a lifetime. With their fiftieth wedding anniversary on the horizon, they’ve modeled a beautiful relationship for their three grown children. But to their dismay, that lesson hasn’t quite caught on—the three siblings just can’t seem to take a chance and find love in their own lives.

Trouble with narration.
Revisado: 01-05-24
The story was awesome, though I didn’t like the time when it got to a peak with each couple and then switched to a different one lol. My problem was the narration. Most of them were excellent but the man who was the voice of cooper was really hard to listen to. His female voice was grating, he had a weird flow, and overall just didn’t fit the literary character. I also had a problem with the speed. Some characters spoke at a normal speed and some so slow I had to speed it up. I suppose that would be a common problem with so many narrators. All in all it was alright.

The good and the bad. (Also not the complete series)
Revisado: 04-27-23
This series has SO much potential but it needs definite tweaking and editing to get there. Things that would be easy fixes, if she had people proofread for more than just grammatical errors, really take away from the overall enjoyment. I
First the narrator. I’m not a huge fan as she’s a bit nasaly and it’s hard to find the males attractive with her voice, but you get used to her after a while and it’s not so bad that you can’t listen.
As for the author, she has things that she does extremely well and others that infuriate me.
The good: she doesn’t make everything sunshine and rainbows. The problems that people face are more real world than some of the other books I’ve read. She hits points of child trafficking, sex slaves, gangs, and a lot of other various topics of the criminal underground. She also doesn’t make it that finding your mate magically fixes every problem. I also enjoy the sex scenes though some are extremely long.
The bad: this isn’t the complete series. There are 3 more books at least and a lot of things are still unsettled. She will build up tension about a situation but then not explain how it’s resolved. She just skips to the next seen and everything is magically better. She leaves a lot of questions unanswered as well, even through the 8th book. She’s also very inconsistent and just chases facts from book to book.
SPOILER ALERT! This spoiler all the way through the 8th book.
Example of inconsistency: Up until the 8th book May is pregnant with one child. You even hear one heart beat in book 6. Now in the 8th it’s twins.

Historia
With my life back to normal - normal being a very relative word - one would think I’d catch a break. One would be very wrong. With an angel gunning for me and a demon in my bed, life couldn’t be more complicated. Not to mention, I’m going to have to make a rather large life choice. Do I want to live forever? Does anyone? Forever is a very long time. Whatever. I’ll think about it tomorrow...or next week...or next month. As long as I have my girlfriends, my dogs, a super-sized case of merlot, and my deceased squatters, I’m good to go.

She repeats herself too much.
Revisado: 11-04-22
The author needs to assume that if we are on book 3, we’ve read the first 2. Which means that she doesn’t need to mention(for the 5th time) that Steve picked out all of the overstuffed furniture. She repeats herself over and over again. Some of it is even verbatim. It’s almost as if she has completely forgotten that she’s said something multiple times before. I get that she might want to summarize the last couple books to some extent but she needs to stick with the big stuff.

Narrator sounds stoned
Revisado: 05-23-22
I wonder why I’m the only person to have a problem with this by the narrator talks sooo slow and sounds like a stereotypical stoner. I listened to her in the other series she narrates and she’s talking normally. Don’t know what’s wrong with this book.

Historia
My name is Nate Temple, and I’m secretly a wizard. I ride a foul-mouthed unicorn, I drink with Achilles, and I’m pals with the Four Horsemen. I’ve even cow-tipped the Minotaur. I understand the theory of following the rules...I’m just not very good at the application. Because rules were meant to be broken, and St. Louis has a bit of a supernatural infestation these days. Someone should probably be keeping an eye on these things -and probably an eye on me, too. Before I blow up another building...or three.

Narrator is monotonous
Revisado: 05-04-22
The narrators inner monologue is lacking any inflection and is so dry that it takes away from the story. The character seems like a goofy guy who can take things seriously when necessary, but the narrator makes him sound like Batman. No one wants to hear Batman narrate a story, that’s why they don’t make him talk very often.
Why so serious, Nate Temple?

Historia
Some people are ordained for greatness. Those people usually have a lot of drama in their life. Drama I happily do without. I live in a forgotten corner of nowhere for a reason: there is safety in anonymity. I have enough problems just trying to get by. But when Kieran, a sinfully sexy demigod at the pinnacle of power, crashes into my life, suddenly my whole world is turned upside down. He’s harboring a deadly secret, one that could destroy all he holds dear. He thinks I’m the key to his salvation, and he wants me to help him claim vengeance. He also wants me with a passion.

Great narrator but I hate the couple.
Revisado: 01-10-22
This narrator ROCKS!!!!! That part was perfect, but, and this is just my opinion, but can’t these two ever have a single conversation without the CONSTANT horny feeling? Seriously! The conversations could be about his mom, her kids, his dad… doesn’t matter! She always talks about how hot and bothered she is by him. It was extra infuriating because it made this strong independent woman seem like a drooling teenager. It was really hard to listen to, but I couldn’t skip it because it was during serious important discussions! I’m gonna try the next book to see if they get it out of their systems and can be normal. Praying it’s better.

Girl needs a thesaurus
Revisado: 10-05-21
In all of her books, she says the same lines about 600 times. In this one it’s some variation of “he was 8 feet tall if he was an inch”. In the protector series her arrow always flew “straight and true”. It really takes away from the story.

Minor inconsistency
Revisado: 10-03-21
The series overall is good. I just want to point out that Persephone is in the last book when she technically hasn’t even been discovered yet until a later “shadow guild” series. I read them in the wrong order lol. But they are all supposed to be interconnected with people from this series showing up in the ones from the shadow guild so technically she shouldn’t be in it. That’s the only problem I have. Also, this narrator does much better in these ones than she does in the later ones where she has to have an accent through most of the book

Having trouble getting immersed
Revisado: 09-05-21
The reader has difficulties with the male voices and it takes me out of the story. As for the story, I am listening to this before reading the sequel dualogy “half-breed prison”. So I was prepared for the half finished ending. Hopefully it gets completed in the sequel.
