There was way too much sex for me. It was cheesy. If you’re into spicy, you might like this, but it was a snoozer and a dnf for me.

Historia
In the course of her everyday work, career-driven assistant district attorney Nina Frost prosecutes child molesters and works determinedly to ensure that a legal system with too many loopholes keeps these criminals behind bars. But when her own five-year-old son, Nathaniel, is traumatized by a sexual assault, Nina and her husband, Caleb, a quiet and methodical stone mason, are shattered, ripped apart by an enraging sense of helplessness in the face of a futile justice system that Nina knows all too well.

This is a roller coaster of emotions
Revisado: 09-18-24
I was not sure the I was going to like this. The main character becomes kind of annoying, but it all works out. Really great character development and the unexpected twists. The only reason I left off a star for performance was the poor choice to have a woman with a deeper voice play the male characters. That felt awkward and unsatisfying. I don’t understand that choice. Regardless, this book is a great story and worth the listen.

Historia
After the loss of his parents, young Jack Thatch first met Stella as a child - this cryptic little girl of eight with dark hair and darker eyes, sitting alone on a bench in the cemetery clutching her favorite book. The body of a man found in an alley, every inch of his flesh horribly burned, yet his clothing completely untouched. For Detective Faustino Brier, this wasn't the first, and he knew it wouldn't be the last. Isolated and locked away from the world in a shadowy lab, a little boy known only as Subject "D" waits, grows, learns. He's permitted to speak to no one.

Great book… slow burn.
Revisado: 07-29-24
This book is a slow burn, but pays off in the end. Unrelated to the story, I felt jilted when I didn’t hear Rick Lewis’s voice at the end saying, “Audible hopes you’ve enjoyed this program.” It was someone else, and I can’t explain it, but I felt sad that I wasn’t hearing his voice.

I like this series, but not this one
Revisado: 06-15-24
The characters in this series are really likable. The previous three books were very good, but this one went off the rails. The devil worship nonsense was too cliche and weird. I couldn’t wait for this to be over.

Bizarre premise, but the story is compelling and will keep you glued to it.
Revisado: 05-11-24
While the premise for this book is kind of far fetched, the writing, characters and story will keep you engaged. The narrator’s choice of voice for the villain was rather weird, but if you can get past that, the rest of the narration is good. It’s definitely a compelling book and worth the credit.

Historia
The Girl of Sugar Beach is the most watched documentary in television history - a riveting, true-life mystery that unfolds over 12 weeks and centers on a fascinating question: Did Grace Sebold murder her boyfriend, Julian, while on a Spring Break vacation, or is she a victim of circumstance and poor police work? Grace has spent the last 10 years in a St. Lucian prison, and reaches out to filmmaker Sidney Ryan in a last, desperate attempt to prove her innocence. As Sidney begins researching, she uncovers issues that were all overlooked during the original investigation.

Trust the other reviews… terrible ending
Revisado: 05-07-24
The story was ok, not great. As it progressed it seemed to be getting better, but that ending…. I literally couldn’t believe it just cut off like that. What editor allows a writer to do that? This will turn me off from reading other books by this author.

Historia
In September 1969, a fumbling, cranky old church deacon known as Sportcoat shuffles into the courtyard of the Cause Houses housing project in south Brooklyn, pulls a .38 from his pocket, and, in front of everybody, shoots the project's drug dealer at point-blank range. The reasons for this desperate burst of violence and the consequences that spring from it lie at the heart of Deacon King Kong, James McBride's funny, moving novel and his first since his National Book Award-winning The Good Lord Bird.

Excellent and worth the credit
Revisado: 04-09-23
This was a very creative story and I was glued to listening to it. For those of you who are reading the comments about American politics, I’ll tell you that there is ONE tiny comment about Trump being crazy and a bet that Biden will win. It’s literally two sentences of this novel and that’s it. It’s not even a Major conversation and it’s not a theme that runs through the book. It’s not worth having hurt feelings. The book is excellent and I highly recommend it. I loved it. It’s full of twists and turns and not at all what you expect.
