Historia
The long-awaited new legal thriller from John Grisham is here. In The Summons, law professor Ray Atlee and his black-sheep brother are called home by their ailing father, the Judge, for a family meeting that never takes place. The Judge dies too soon, and in doing so leaves behind a shocking secret known only to Ray. And perhaps someone else.

Excellent writing as always. Just wish he had finished it. Unlike the many other Grisham books in my library, this one had a very disappointing ending.

Why the personal politics?
Revisado: 07-25-23
Very talented writer. I have enjoyed his books. But why ruin it by inserting personal political preferences that half of this country is going to disagree with? He goes to great lengths to show both sides of his legal story which makes for a good book. But then makes left wing political comments. Stupid decision and completely unnecessary.

This isn’t the best writing you will come across but the story line was interesting enough to keep me listening until the end.

I am a 62 year old man and I absolutely loved this book. It was the perfect blend of a love story, a mystery, a little time travel, and Godliness. Thank you Michelle Kidd for your labor of love in writing this book.

Historia
Alexander Grant is a little too good at a few too many things. Two dozen martial arts. Twice that many languages. Chess, the piano, sports, forging excused absences, you name it. He graduated high school top of his class 17 times. Of course, no one knows any of this. Not that he wants to go unnoticed. It’s just safer that way.

Good story line.
Revisado: 12-20-19
This is a YA book with a good story line. I like the historical perspective and background, but far too much time is spent digressing into historical characters and events and details without moving the story forward. That makes the story just drag when it doesn’t have to. I had to listen to it at an advanced speed to endure it when it is much preferable to listen to an interesting book at a normal speed while savoring the details. Great narrator.

Historia
Bronx-born top turret-gunner Arthur Meyerowitz was on his second mission when he was shot down in 1943. He was one of only two men on the B-24 Liberator known as Harmful Lil Armful who escaped death or immediate capture on the ground. After fleeing the wreck, Arthur knocked on the door of an isolated farmhouse, whose owners hastily took him in. Fortunately, his hosts not only despised the Nazis but had a tight connection to the French resistance group Morhange and its founder, Marcel Taillandier.

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

A man's perspective.
Revisado: 10-08-15
First impression is that this is a book for women. But I am a 58 year old man and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. The writing is exceptional, which for me is critically important. My family gets tired of me criticizing the writing in movies, TV shows and books. And the narrating takes it up to another level of excellence. I can't imagine any way this book could have been better.

Historia
The Arsenal of Democracy tells the incredible story of how Detroit answered the call, centering on Henry Ford and his tortured son Edsel, who, when asked if they could deliver 50,000 airplanes, made an outrageous claim: Ford Motor Company would erect a plant that could yield a “bomber an hour”. Critics scoffed: Ford didn’t make planes; they made simple, affordable cars. But bucking his father’s resistance, Edsel charged ahead.
