Historia
Life for Bertie seems to be moving at a pace that is rather out of his control. In Drummond Place gardens, it seems that Olive has their future together all planned out. Meanwhile, upstairs at 44 Scotland Street, Bertie’s father Stuart is powerless to stop overbearing Irene and her motion for Bertie to travel to Aberdeen on a three-month secondment.

Historia
Daniel Graham MacCormick - Mac for short - seems to have a pretty good life. At age 35 he's living in Key West, owner of a 42-foot charter fishing boat, The Maine. Mac served five years in the army as an infantry officer, with two tours in Afghanistan. He returned with the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, scars that don't tan, and a boat with a big bank loan. Big tough guy and sexy idealistic gal spend a few days in Cuba. Talk like they are stuck in the Rockford Files. Lots of cliches. Spoiler alert: protagonist calls his penis “Papino”

Historia
The study of twins and the genetics of aggression totally consumes research scientist Jeannie Ferrami. An accomplished and headstrong researcher, Jeannie has developed a sophisticated software program to identify identical twins reared apart. But Jeannie's breakthrough project is threatened by the appearance of a sudden impossibility - identical twins born weeks apart to different mothers at separate locations.

Very Disappointed.
Revisado: 10-31-17
This book is poorly written. Characters suck. Settings are not realistic. I’ve read all of Ken Follet’s historical novels which I loved and thought were well researched. Not this one. Not by a long shot. If you are a Follet fan don’t waste your time or money. Very disappointed.

Historia
Goodwin describes the broken friendship between Teddy Roosevelt and his chosen successor, William Howard Taft. With the help of the "muckraking" press, Roosevelt had wielded the Bully Pulpit to challenge and triumph over abusive monopolies, political bosses, and corrupting money brokers. Roosevelt led a revolution that he bequeathed to Taft only to see it compromised as Taft surrendered to money men and big business. The rupture led Roosevelt to run against Taft for president, an ultimately futile race that gave power away to the Democrats.

Imagine a time when Presidents actually wrote their own speeches.
Revisado: 05-27-15
Not only did Roosevelt and Taft spend days preparing their own political speeches, they solicited each other for comments before presenting. Doris Kearns Goodwin introduces us to the presidents' families and White House staff and takes us back to an era that changed the way we lived and did business in America. There's also an insiders view (from the notes and journals of the authors) of the first political magazines and writers. "Team of Rivals" is still my favorite book but this comes close.

Historia
Ellen O’Farrell is a professional hypnotherapist who works out of the eccentric beachfront home she inherited from her grandparents. It’s a nice life, except for her tumultuous relationship history. She’s stoic about it, but at this point, Ellen wouldn’t mind a lasting one. When she meets Patrick, she’s optimistic. He’s attractive, single, employed, and best of all, he seems to like her back. Then comes that dreaded moment: He thinks they should have a talk. Braced for the worst, Ellen is pleasantly surprised.

Lots of give and take in the plot. Story is narrated by both the protagonist and antagonist and in such a way that you end up rooting for both.

Historia
It’s only a slight exaggeration to say that the British mathematician Alan Turing (1912-1954) saved the Allies from the Nazis, invented the computer and artificial intelligence, and anticipated gay liberation by decades--all before his suicide at age forty-one. This classic biography of the founder of computer science, reissued on the centenary of his birth with a substantial new preface by the author, is the definitive account of an extraordinary mind and life.

Imagine someone recorded every detail of your work
Revisado: 05-09-15
Way too much data detail. Few details of the personal man. I wanted to like him but he, if you believe the author, is much like the machines he designed. A math problem that solves itself.
