Rough writing
Revisado: 10-17-24
The overall story and performance are great, but the writing seems to have taken a hit. So many overused phrases. Epic ending means I'll still stick with the next one to see if the quality picks back up.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Interesting but poorly written
Revisado: 09-10-22
While the story itself is certainly compelling, the writing is not great. The performance is decent, but I have trouble getting through books written by and about someone who is not a good storyteller.

Historia
Raze is "just" a lowly Gearblin chained to the quest-giver desk at the worst (and only) arcade in town. And that’s a problem for her. It means that she’s a Non-Participating Citizen, someone who can’t see her stats nor make opposed rolls against Heroes. It’s why her life’s worth less than the vendor trash she doles out. The old-timers swear it didn’t used to be like this; their issues only began once RNGesus went AFK a thousand years ago, leaving the questionably blessed Heroes to conquer everything without consequence.

Revisado: 08-27-22
Couldn't finish it. Felicia's vocal performance is of course excellent, but the story just wasn't at a level that could keep me interested.

Historia
Anna does boring things for terrible people because even criminals need office help and she needs a job. Working for a monster lurking beneath the surface of the world isn’t glamorous. But is it really worse than working for an oil conglomerate or an insurance company? In this economy? A sharp, witty, modern debut, Hench explores the individual cost of justice through a fascinating mix of millennial office politics, heroism measured through data science, body horror, and a profound misunderstanding of quantum mechanics.

Historia
United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

You know why you're here
Revisado: 09-26-19
If you're this far into the series, I assume you know why you're here. The writing and the story are decent, but heavy on the tropes and recycled story ticks and dialog. However, the vocal performance is outstanding and continues doing a stellar job of bringing the Skippy and Joe relationship to life, and that's why you keep coming back to this series!

Historia
Anne Gallagher grew up enchanted by her grandfather’s stories of Ireland. Heartbroken at his death, she travels to his childhood home to spread his ashes. There, overcome with memories of the man she adored and consumed by a history she never knew, she is pulled into another time. The Ireland of 1921, teetering on the edge of war, is a dangerous place in which to awaken. But there Anne finds herself, hurt, disoriented, and under the care of Dr. Thomas Smith, guardian to a young boy who is oddly familiar.

Historia
As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

Fun but brief
Revisado: 04-09-19
Voice performances are top notch. The story is fun but brief, and only fills in a few holes if you're new to this part of the Alien storyline.

As usual, Naramore is great. Morin's storytelling is also on par, but the premise here makes the story slightly hard to follow and characters hard to relate to.

Historia
Cat's Cradle is Vonnegut's satirical commentary on modern man and his madness. An apocalyptic tale of this planet's ultimate fate, it features a little person as the protagonist; a complete, original theology created by a calypso singer; and a vision of the future that is at once blackly fatalistic and hilariously funny.

pretty good!
Revisado: 09-07-18
Enjoyable story and well told. Just enough scientific detail to make it believable. I always get annoyed when any book in a series doesn't have at least a small climax of its own though. When this one ended, almost thought I had accidentally skipped a part or something. Nevertheless, I'll be getting the next one.
