no to the narrator
Revisado: 01-08-25
I understand that Richard Ferrone has passed, a great loss, but your new narrator adds absolutely nothing to your books. I feel like he is actually a detriment to your characters, adds nothing, and they are completely flat and lifeless. Such a shame. Would it not be better to ask Eric Conger to narrate your Lucas, Lettie, AND Virgil series?

Accents were terrible
Revisado: 02-22-24
Jenny Sterlin will be missed. The new narrator has no consistency in her accents, flips feom English, to bad French, to American in the space of a sentence. Very confusing to figure out which character is speaking because of this. Lost the story entirely because of the terrible narration.
The Narrator has a beautiful voice, but would be better suited to an American character.

Revisado: 01-12-23
Martin Jarvis does a good job with a boring drudging story. Missing Dick Francis' compelling horse racing stories- this is a sad substitute.

Historia
Slough House is a dumping ground for British intelligence agents who've screwed up cases in any number of ways - by leaving a secret file on a train or blowing a surveillance. River Cartwright, one such "slow horse", is bitter about his failure and about his tedious assignment transcribing cell phone conversations. When a young man is abducted and his kidnappers threaten to broadcast his beheading live on the Internet, River sees an opportunity to redeem himself.

Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

What a struggle to get through this one! Monotonous in narration as well as story line. I kept thinking there must be something interesting for them to have made this into a television show, but I think a nap would be better suited for that time.

Historia
Robert McCall is a former covert operations officer for the CIA who tries to atone for past sins by offering, free of charge, his services as a protector, an investigator, and a troubleshooter—often literally. Aided by a group of sometimes-mysterious contacts, some of whom date back to his spying days, McCall traverses the streets of New York City, visiting justice upon those who prey upon the weak. A woman finds herself the target of a Chechen nightclub owner. The club is actually a front for an elite assassination service—run by an old enemy of McCall’s.

Revisado: 07-19-20
if you want to hear every character's brand of Nike shoes in intimate detail then this is the book for you. story is ok, but brand names were so repetitively called out it almost felt like commercials. distracting from what would otherwise have been an okay thriller
