Historia
Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone, and she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound thrilled when she asked if she could crash with him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, and surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apartment, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.

I really struggled to finish this one. It could have been cut down by at least 1/3. It dragged for almost the entire book, then tried to tie up all the plot points in the last few minutes. By then I had stopped caring.

Historia
It was supposed to be fun. A relaxing trip to a remote mountain retreat where there’s no phone reception. Three couples, friends since high school, are looking forward to a weekend of drinking, reminiscing and flirting. When someone suggests swapping partners, it doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. The lights will be switched off, for privacy. It’s not really cheating if you don’t know who you were with, right? But when the lights come back on, one of the men is dead. No-one can agree who was in which bedroom with whom.

This story kept me riveted from beginning to end. Every time I thought I had it figured out, a surprising, but believable, twist would prove me wrong. You can't go wrong with this author.

I was disappointed that the mystery took a backseat to a lot of relationship drama. Interesting characters, though.

I really liked this one. Set in a retirement village, it's got the right amount of suspense without a lot of violence. There's an interesting story from the past that adds a second mystery to figure out. I'll seek out more from this author!

Historia
Dr. Corinne Cabot is living the American dream. She's a successful ER physician in Chicago who's married to a handsome husband. Together, they live in a charming house in the suburbs. But appearances can be deceiving - and what no one can see is Corinne's dark past. Troubling gaps in her memory mean she recalls little about a haunting event in her life years ago that changed everything. She remembers only being in the house the night two people were found murdered. Her father was there, too. Now her father is in prison; she hasn't been in contact in years.

Ludicrous
Revisado: 05-22-24
This was so bad. Convoluted plot with a nonsensical twist, overwrought writing and narration, explicit sex and vile language. I think the author started out with a decent plot but the editors said to make it more violent, more explicit and as sordid as possible. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.
