Historia
It's Valentine's Day in Winterspell, but not everyone appears to be feeling the love. And no, I'm not talking about my dateless self. Instead of being wooed by candlelight, I'm working in a candle shop. Cora Hearth, Winterspell's magical chandler, has teamed up with Sugar Shack to create party favors for the lucky couples, and they're counting on us to spark some magic for their special night. So, when a thief breaks into my delivery van and swipes the goodies, Cora and I-and her persnickety talking cat-have to join forces to track down the culprit in time to save Valentine's Day.

Historia
I've always wanted to meet a mermaid, but when I finally get my chance on New Year's Eve, the circumstances are far darker than I'd imagined. One of the mermaids isn't what she appears to be, and if I don't find a way to break the spell, she will never be herself again. With strange magic in the air and a dangerous force lurking in the shadows, I have to find the truth and keep myself from being the next one to wind up caught in the sorcerer's web.

Historia
Christmas in Winterspell means ice skating, hot cocoa by the barrel, and frosted gingerbread houses. I was almost looking forward to it. The merriment screeches to a halt when two elves show up, claiming to have been sent by Santa himself, on a mission to track down an ancient grimoire. A grimoire with the power of Christmas itself woven through the pages. Without it, Christmas isn't happening, and Santa himself is in grave danger. Could Winterspell hold the key to saving Christmas?

Great Novella

Very short so do consider if it's worth using a credit or just paying. I'll get the box set 1-5 with one credit at least I will get more for one credit including for the 2 novella in the series.

Thanks to a series of unfortunate events - and one backstabbing frenemy - home is exactly where I'm headed. Back to Winterspell Lake, where magic runs rampant and humans are outlawed. Faster than you can say hocus pocus I'm unpacking my bags and settling into the guest room of my parents' house, trying to ignore the creeping sensation that I'll never break free again. The one thing Winterspell has going for it is the sweets shop in the center of town, a bakery filled with magical creations designed to enchant the taste buds and charm even the pickiest of connoisseurs.

It gives Hallmark Murder Mystery vibes meets magical realism. I will continue with the series to see if there will be any character development and see if the author has already introduce us to a character that might appear later in the series, if you know, you know.

Historia
Last year, Rachel Bacharach met the man of her dreams at a Hanukkah party — and then her outgoing best friend Tamara swooped in and “called” Oz Caplan for herself. It’s a typical outcome for the dependable, bookish Rachel, who is never able to extinguish the spark she immediately felt for Oz. But being secretly in love with her best friend’s boyfriend all year hasn’t been easy.

Not my cup of tea
Revisado: 01-09-25
I understand it's a short story but I still would've like more chemistry between Oz and Rachel and less Oz whining, complaining, and has some angry issues for me to enjoy this book. I did enjoy their friends and will continue to read the series hoping it will get better.

It was ok
Revisado: 06-17-24
The story is short and a fast read. The Characters were ok except for Bernadette, who I find annoying whenever she hears Mac was keeping secrets from her through the towns people. The story didn’t have that many suspects so it was obvious who the killer was and the story ended quickly for my taste but overall it was ok and I will be reading the second book. The story did give me the video game called Lake vibes so I might be a little bias.

Could’ve been better
Revisado: 06-10-24
The story went down hill for me because of Mae West. Everyone says she’s smart but that is far from the truth she whines a lot and is so dumb she couldn’t even figure it out who the killer was. It was one of her new friends who solved the mystery before the detective did. The camp site only made process due to the townsfolk being generous and donated a lot to help out which Mae was playing the victim card at times so the town people can take pity on her and helped out and she gets shock when some doesn’t. She also has a temper at times over dumb stuff. Overall this wasn’t a fun listen for me she annoyed me the majority of the time the only thing that helped me push through it were her new friends since they were ok and some reviewers say it gives them Stardew Valley vibes which it kinda does. I might give the second book a try since maybe the character attitude might change but I’m glad that this is free from the catalogue or I would’ve been upset and gave this one star for wasting not only my time but my money.

Historia
Erin Coleridge's used bookstore in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, England, is a meeting place for the villagers and, in particular, for the local Jane Austen Society. At the Society's monthly meeting, matters come to a head between the old guard and its young turks. After the meeting breaks for tea, persuasion gives way to murder with extreme prejudice when president Sylvia Pemberthy falls dead to the floor. Poisoned? Presumably, but by whom? And was Sylvia the only target?

Would not Recommend
Revisado: 01-20-23
I will not continue with the series and I don’t recommend wasting your time with this book…
The Characters are dumb, boring, and bland wouldn’t want to live in that town. Couldn’t stand Erin Coleridge and her reason to investigate the murder of Sylvia was because she read true crime books. The Cops were useless including DI Hadley who’s just there as Erin love interest which I think their reason for their attraction towards each other was poorly executed, just like the rest of the story. I was able to figure out who the killer was and the motive pretty fast in the story so I think 56 chapters is too much since the story dragged for me to finish.

Jayne isn’t Bright
Revisado: 01-07-23
The story was obvious, ridiculous, and Jayne isn’t smart for a PI/Princess
…Spoiler Alert….
-She sneaks into an apartment building that one of the missing people used to live in and didn’t bother taking any pictures then when she comes back the second time it has been cleared out.
-She sneaks into the work building in the middle of the night. She took a picture and forgot the flash was on…main characters from other mystery books who aren’t PI knows not to have their flash on.
-She uses the two guys, who like her, to get information (which was useless), and gain access to go to the basement. I’m not ok that she was messing with their emotions for “work”especially since she claims to have feelings for them which is wrong in my book that’s not a healthy way to start a relationship.
-She was being prejudice towards the vampire and the description of sun elves and Vikings but was angry at Cookie for not knowing her culture, winter elves.
-For a PI she couldn’t figure out why her ex broke up with her or who was the one pulling the strings.

More of a Comedy Horror
Revisado: 11-19-20
I dislike animal cruelty so trigger warning if you also dislike it as well. I did appreciate that it did give us a warning in the beginning of the story. I choose to continue because I was curious to know what so many book lovers like this story. I’ve read Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix and felt like that story could’ve been better so this is the second book that I’ve from the author and I liked it a little better then the other book. The pacing of the story was slow for half of the book and it almost didn’t grab my attention. The narrator Emily Woo Zeller did an excellent job voicing the characters that she kept me entertained. The story is about friendship and more of a comedy horror then a horror some parts where so dumb that you’ll ask yourself what am I listening to, 80’s doesn’t mean stupidity. Nothing was scary it had a lot of gross (Eww) scene then scary, and yes there is a huge difference between gross and scary. This is the second time that the author added gross into his supposedly horror story. I already purchased The Southern Book Club’s guide to slaying Vampire which I hope will be a lot better then this story otherwise that book will be the last time I read from this Author.
