Historia
When Sorcerer Adrien Danvers takes on a job that leads him into the slums of England, he never imagined he'd end up with not one but two apprentices. Despite his doubts about himself, he's the only chance the two pre-teens have to escape their hellish life. When Sir Hugh Quartermain contracts him to deal with the mysterious circumstances surrounding his home on the Isle of Man, Adrien finds the more time they spend together, the more his walls come down around the beguiling engineer—an unusual occurrence and a terrifying prospect.

essentially a Harlequin romance
Revisado: 10-05-24
I was expecting a fun book with mythical sea creatures and an interesting magical system with some romance. this was only a Harlequin type romance with a few nods to magic. not my cup of tea.

Historia
AD 1136. Across a barren battlefield in the shadows of Kidwelly Castle, the bodies of a defeated army lay abandoned, left to rot as a warning to all who dare rebel against the authority of the English crown. Throughout the kingdom, the people are subjected to a renewed campaign of brutality from the victorious castellans, and any thoughts of freedom are abandoned as they struggle simply to survive each passing day. However, deep beneath the Cathedral of Saint David, in a cold and damp cell that has been his home for many years, an old monk kneels in prayer.

Historia
Gruffydd ap Cynan is missing, his army scattered. Twelve long years have passed since the king was taken prisoner and his people think him long dead. In the dirty shadows of Chester Castle, a beaten prisoner looks up from the squalor of the street. Dressed in rags, mocked and pelted with filth, he seems a broken man. Yet deep inside, the desire for freedom burns like the hottest furnace.

Historia
1081. William's bloody conquest is over and Britain is under Norman rule. But one bastion of resistance remains: Wales. A divided land where brother fights brother and kings battle for power. The English use this to further their own ends, and while one king is tempted by an offer he cannot resist, the others wage war over long-forgotten feuds.

good story, terrible narration
Revisado: 03-13-22
I was very interested in the subject matter of this book. however, the narrator read as if he were a parent doing over the top voices for a young child. despite the lack of humor in the subject material, the narrator sounded ironic and even mocking. I really want to know what happens next so I will probably get the next two books, but I'm not looking forward to more of this narration.

I wish this had been read by a Filipino speaker. I understood the Arabic mispronunciations, but it didn't make sense to have an English accent here

Horrible pronunciation
Revisado: 11-08-18
I have never listened to a book where the reader's articulation of words in another language was so off. It wasn't simply that she read Arabic words with an American accent. Rather it almost sounded as if she were deliberately distorting the words. Very jarring. I wish I had read it instead of listening to it.
