The isolated forge world of Diamantus faces a threat of apocalyptic proportions – a warped and mutated space hulk infested by the forces of Chaos, commanded by the monstrous datagnost Voldire, disciple of the dread demigod Vashtorr the Arkifane. As the battle-weary Carcharodons make their stand alongside the Adeptus Mechanicus, horrors and nightmares raining down around them, the Space Marines must confront their place within this new Imperium, and destroy the hulk before Diamantus is lost.

Really great continuation of the carcharodons.
Revisado: 06-30-25
This books knocks it out of the park maybe even better than the first two. The inter imperium politics was well done, not too much and a great covering of vashtor and the way their cult works. I quite liked all the space hulk bits, as well as the narrator.
I think that the book really does well with keeping things going at a good pace, as well as not getting too bogged down in the action scenes that alot of black library books can.
I think Shogo Miyakita really hit his stride here, in previous books ive been rather meh to dissapointed on his work, but i think this is his best stuff yet. His narrations especially is really well done here, and his voicework is pretty good too.
Overall, Robbie is consistently one of my favorite black library authors and keeps that track up here.

As they work through the noob zone quests, they discover that the new immersion system allows them to play in ways that hadn't been possible before. They quickly run afoul of a party of player killers and become the targets of an entire PK guild bent on spawn-camping them until they leave the game. War has been declared.

A nice, if kind of corny story.
Revisado: 06-16-25
Corny in that some of the stuff is a little too obviously "feel good" but frankly thats something i could use right now! I love the main protagonist, how his issues are handled and how his friends are ultimately rewarded for being good people. It may not be true to life, and it may be a bit much but i sincerely like it.
The humor is good, the characters well done and believable, i quite like alot of the npc characters in the story. I think the author did a wonderful job bringing the game world, the characters, other players, the company and the npcs to life. I quite like the premise of the story and the execution was very good too. The story doesnt meander too much, and you really get a sense of what everyoen is doing with their time in the game which is something a few other stories like this havent done well.

Love that we are shown thunderwolves!
Revisado: 06-14-25
As my title says, i love that we are shown thunderwolves. They used to be the main unit of my army when i played 40k, so im always glad to see the big fellas in books. A few things i would note however, is that i really also liked that it showed the wolves fighting alongside their riders while they were dismounted.
As for the main story itself, i quite liked it. There were a few things that were minor annoyances regarding a few things the imperial guard commander said, but other than that i think for a 1 hour story there was decent pacing, characterization and a resolution.
The biggest issue is the performance. Toby longworth does a great job as always but the added sound effects for the whole audio drama vibe this time were pretty hit or miss. The fighting sounds were mostly good besides a few points where grunting and groaning were like... nonstop almost overlaid over each other in a fight or two. The sound of the bolters and lasguns were good, and the sound of the radio was good.
Overall, for space wolf fans and especially fans of thunderwolves i would say its a good listen.

A great time.
Revisado: 06-01-25
The book is exactly what you expect it to be from the store page. You aren't getting into this for a particularly complex story, you are getting into it for a fun spoof on sentai shows, some funny jokes and cute girls in the suits. And on all that it delivers. I must admit, getting into the book it took me awhile to get used to the light parody tone and somewhat silly writing but by the end i really enjoyed it. I recommend if you like the idea of it, its overall a pretty fun, silly ride.

In the dark corners of the Mortal Realms, the mad and mysterious Gloomspite Gitz go to war, following the trail of their abominable lunar deity. Nowhere is beyond the sight of the Bad Moon—not even those places under Sigmar’s protection, like the sweltering city of Draconium. Beneath the scalding rains of Aqshy, the city is a boiling pot of tension, its regent praying to Sigmar for guidance while Watch Captain Helena Morthan douses the fires of anarchy: blades drawn in the streets, heretical doomsayers preaching the end of days, and insects eating watchmen alive.

Pretty Horrific
Revisado: 04-18-25
First off, this is unfortunately, another case of a book being named after the enemy and makes it seem like it will be *about* the gloomspite goblins instead of them being the enemy. So make no mistake, if that's what you want it isn't here. Instead, its a sort of horror adjacent book about a city and those inside it who fight them. So thats what i mean by Horrific.
And i mean horrific in a good way. This book is one of the best AoS books, and that seems to be other fans general consensus too! I wont spoil too much other than to say this played out exactly how a really good horror movie should. Anticipation, creeping dread and then a pretty much nonstop ride until the end after that. Of course, its an 11 hour book and not a 90 minute movie but pacing wise it hits pretty much all the same beats.
The narrator does a fantastic job with all the voices. Some of the female characters are a little samey, and his voice he uses when not voicing characters wasn't to my taste but that's my only real issues with his narration.
Overall, its one of the few age of sigmar books i'd actually recommend that i've read so far. Very well done all involved! I just wish they would do better about the naming and covers to make you realize what the book is about.

Brown bears lead deeply cyclical lives. They need to gain sometimes hundreds of pounds during the warmer months to prepare for winter hibernation, a lifestyle that brings them into frequent contact with many other species’ cycles. In this episode, we meander through the Alaska peninsula with a bear and her cubs as she teaches them to hunt salmon at the falls, dig for clams along the coastal mudflats, and use the regional rubbing tree.

Extremely relaxing
Revisado: 04-17-25
I love bears and have trouble sleeping so for me this was a nice surprise. I've used it to fall asleep when i've had trouble 2-3 times now. I find the way that the narrator conveys the information to be both soothing and almost like when you'd read someone to sleep. Its intresting because you wouldn't think it would work as well with the subject matter but it does. I recommend anyone who has trouble sleeping to give it a try!

Still a good time.
Revisado: 03-16-25
The timeline shift aside, this is still a pretty good gotrek and felix novel, though from this point the series never again really reaches close to the heights it had. The storyline is pretty solid, and i quite like most of the characters on both sides of the fight, though i thought felix was a bit odd in this one considering the timeline.
Jonathan Keeble does an amazing job again, and i have to give extra praise to his voicing of the chaos dwarves. I was worried he would make them sound much like the regular dwarves he does so well, but i thought he nailed it as far as they are concerened.
Overall, still a good read and it maintains alot of the stuff that makes gotrek and felix great but you can tel that shifting the timelines around like this was never really in the plans.

The world is suddenly thrown into chaos as a research project is sabotaged and the dead come alive to feast on the living - it seems like an old story, doesn’t it? The Apocalypse Crusade is not that book. You are not suddenly thrust into a world gone mad. Instead, you get front-row seats to how the sh-t went down. In real time you are witness to the agony and the horror…and the terrible stupidity that made it all possible.

Overall pretty good.
Revisado: 03-13-25
I found the first book the best, and considering this is books 1-3 of a 5 part series im not sure how i feel about that. I think that alot of the characters were pretty interesting, and the zombie virus/outbreak was cool to see from the beginning and its source point. My major complaint story wise is just how it felt at times none of the characters were really acting like they had done all the things they had done and seen the things they had seen. Usually, things can only happen because characters behave really poorly and stupidly in zombie books. However in this one, it almost goes too far. Until the end, the characters act and feel a little numb/too rational at points.
That said, the books were very well done and the narrator hit all the spots she needed to. There were just some characters voices which when compared to others were pretty weak.

The book is just too much.
Revisado: 01-18-25
I like the characters for the most part, even if they all are a little too one note for how they act in the book. I mean, don't get me wrong but they all do have backstories, clear wants and motivations and ideals ect but the fact of the matter is this book seems severely... over engineered? I'm not sure what the writing term would be. Its like the author had a really high word count requirement for a story that simply cant hold that up. I quite liked how the first book the characters were real people but in this one not only does the plot not advance nearly far enough, but the characters even talk to other characters about how much they talk, and the issue is its not just the characters talking to each other but their internal monologues.
In some writing circles, especially with shipping theres this phenomenon where characters will talk like complete aliens while explaining their feelings, hang ups and everything they have been feeling together as if they are characters on a movie script that is aimed to the kind of people who don't know how to pick up on anything without it being forcefed. And in these circles, you'll see this kind of romance by deluge of words get worse and worse. This, frankly is pretty bad though not the worst I've ever seen. And its not even that it interrupts the spicy scenes some are here for, but its omnipresent during the entire book. Even when characters aren't here, they are thinking about others in these terms during plot segments.
To the author, maybe i'm wrong and a minority here. But please, when maybe consider cutting down on the huge amount of extra back and forth stuff from this point forward in your writing. You actually have some talent, but you are wielding it like a cudgel instead of a sharp knife. It feels like this book could literally have 4-6 hours of text straight cut from these segments and be overall better for it.
Voice actors are good. Do great voice work but have a tendency to mispronounce words. Stuff like "prow" (of a ship) into "pro" and especially Japanese words. While i cant fault them for that second one, its unfortunate for a book based on anime cons. Its the kind of stuff that will bother your more or less depending on how much you care.

A fun time.
Revisado: 01-05-25
The book is pretty much exactly as described, and focuses mainly on the interplay between humans and the aliens they recently won a war with. So obviously, cultural and language barriers arise to sometimes tense, sometimes funny misunderstandings. The main character i found to like alot more than i thought i would because frankly... if you've heard 1 ranger badass captain in books you have likely heard them all. He had some more depth and backstory than i was expecting. Alot of the rangers are kind of standard ranger characters. I mean, for goodness sake the goof off ranger guy is named Ramirez. Its like having the plucky private who dies in a ww2 movie called kowalsky or something. The alien characters... the Vashen? Were actually much more in depth and interesting to me.
The voices are all pretty good, with male and female voices done well and without any major issues. The male narrator even does a pretty good job at differentiating female voices which is something alot of male narrators cant do and female narrators cant do in reverse.
Theres some kind of major plotholes.... How on *earth* did humanity reach a peace deal with these aliens when at the beginning of the book one of the people in charge say that they can barely speak each others languages? And with the amount both side struggle to talk to each other through the interpreter, its a wonder anything gets done. I dunno. It just kind of rings hollow to me that they still cant speak each others language beyond very basic concept but had a whole war, peace-talks and surrender? I liked the book and will probably listen to a second if it comes out but... i dunno. That felt like a major cop-out to me.
