I have to admit, I wasn't sure if I would like this, but purchased it on the basis of other reviews. My main concern would be that the story would be too sad. I have a hard time listening to stories where animals or people are abused. BUT....I loved every minute of it. The narrator is excellent and his voice gave the story a comfy, friendly intimacy that I really enjoyed. The story is lovely. Well-written by a true horseman. This book is a bargain.

No one should miss this one. The "Wind in the Willows" is the most charming piece of literature I have ever read. It is brilliant in it's descriptive power and the ability to draw the reader into a cozy, real fantasy world where creatures take on the most lovely, eccentric behavior. It's truly charming.
Ralph Cosham's performance is as masterful as Kenneth Grahame's writing. I could listen to Mr. Cosham read anything. He gave us many fantastic performances before he passed away in 2014. He is my favorite audio performer of all time. I have listened to this book over and over because for me, it's like being with delightful friends. Ralph Cosham was a gift to those of us who love audio books. He is greatly missed by this listener.

I loved this book and the narration by Jonathan Cowley was excellent. This book gives a sound historical background of the bicycle which is interwoven with the story of the author's entertaining and enlightening quest to build the perfect bespoke bicycle. I listened to this all winter, over and over, whenever I wanted to be out on my bike but the weather kept me in. Educational, entertaining and extremely pleasant. Cannot recommend this audiobook enough!

I like the writing by Dave Barter, but Simon Whistler's performance was irritating. It sounds like he was on some sort of tranquilizer and made the book unpleasant to listen to. Very flat, boring reading that sounded as if he was sleep-talking. I didn't expect a lot of drama, but some pleasant pacing and inflection is a must. This performance was not my cup of tea.

I love this book, but Frances Barber's performance was irritating to my ears. I'm a musician and very picky, so maybe it's just me -- but the pacing was odd and I did not like how she interpreted the characters with her inflection. It was grating, overdone and unnatural to my ears.

This is a brilliant work written by a brilliant, perceptive author, C.S.Lewis. The work itself is a stand-alone masterpiece. However, the added bonus of Joss Ackland's flawless performance, as "Your Affectionate Uncle Screwtape" -- allows the words to leap from the page and pierce the soul. Rarely does the tambour, tone and texture of a voice fit so perfectly with the words on the page.

The story is a first person reading of 31 letters from a senior demon named Screwtape to his nephew, Wormwood, also a demon, but inexperienced in the finer points of guiding a human toward hell.

It is a Christian apologetic brimming with all the attributes of the brilliance of C.S. Lewis, a master storyteller/writer whose gifts border on the realm of the mystic.

Where does Puppies, Dogs, and Blue Northers rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Puppies, Dogs and Blue Northers is one of the most pleasant, whimsical books to which I've ever had the pleasure to listen. It is an interesting slice of the life of author Gary Paulson that takes you into the cold winter of northern Minnesota and the world of raising sled dogs.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The author looms large over the story as it is a first person account of his experience with his dogs, especially his beloved lead dog, Cookie, a strong, intelligent 'bitch' (female dog) who has the heart of a hero. His love for her is so contagious, that one cannot help but be drawn into their relationship….and it's a place that warms the heart.

Have you listened to any of Gary Paulsen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first audio book listening to this author read his own work and I loved it. He reads his work as though he is living his experience over again and chuckles audibly at the parts that are rather hilarious. It was like having a friend tell me a very entertaining bit from their own life. He did a fabulous job and I'm grateful to the editors for not taking out his chuckles and tiny laughs. I could see his eyes sparkling as he smiled to himself and it made the story even more enjoyable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book made me laugh, chuckle, smile and tear up. It's a lovely tale.

Any additional comments?

I'm so glad that Gary Paulsen read this pleasant little story himself. I've listened to it about 3 times since buying it a few months ago. It's one of those little jewels that I haven't tired of and relaxes me when driving home from "whatever."
