Historia
Two days ago, the Wilson family checked into the imposing, glass-fronted Lodge, surrounded by snow and perched perilously on the edge of a cliff looking out to a gray sea. Not everyone was looking forward to the family get-together. But mother-in-law Angela insisted the winter trip would help heal their rifts....

Slow moving. Depressing plot. Don’t bother.
Revisado: 01-23-25
So glad it was free or I’d request a refund.
This story moved along at such a slow pace. The characters missed reacting to conversations where obvious responses in real life would be made; leaves the reader waiting to know things or they just were dropped from the storyline.
Fiona, a narrating character left out huge pieces of the storyline so things didn’t mesh for me as the reader. It just felt all over the place and most of these characters were annoying. The story just didn’t ever wrap up completely to make sense.
Having done and experienced the brutal murders these ‘normal’ people would be experiencing psychological paranoia & problems not just marching on their merry way.
Too unrealistic.
Worst of all, what a terribly sad representation of parenthood. I’m truly disappointed by the approach to justify two horrible parents that subjected their children to horrible secrets; inevitably the sins of the parents ruined the kids lives. Too depressing for me. I wanted to smack all the adults across the face and say grow the FU.

Historia
While investigating Blackston’s recent activities, FBI Agent Jeremy Winter stumbles upon a string of missing persons within state parks. As the clues mount, a dark figure from Jeremy’s past emerges with an ultimatum - one that could force him out of the bureau. Afraid that his girlfriend, fellow agent Maggie Keeley, will be dragged into a high-stakes political game, he delays his decision.

Good story. Terrible narration.
Revisado: 09-03-24
The readers voice is so robotic and monotone it’s crazy someone actually chose this guy to narrate this story; I can only image there’s hundreds of other better candidates.
If you can push past the blah voice and odd pronunciations like Wrangler = wrangahler then the story itself is good. I like the character Jeremy Winter and all the little tales woven around him.
The ending was quite abrupt though. Were they able to conclusively determine the deaths of the missing people? What was the towns reaction? What questioning did the wife get? Maybe that’s where book 2 picks up.

This is a series you want to read over and over again because you’ll pick up clues you missed the first go around. I’m hard to foil; most endings are easily figured out, but this one I couldn’t figure out how the DPS would pull it off. Justine Eyre is an amazing narrator.

What a twist! But can we stop desensitizing male roles?
Revisado: 01-25-24
Another great tale from Sarah Eden and Helen Lloyd’s reading is always magical. Although I enjoyed the story, I didn’t like the dread tale by the Dr and skipped those chapters as it just kept loosing my interest after 4-5 min into each chapter. I also am a bit annoyed by the feminism. I’ll be the first to appreciate and applaud a female leader but come on. Every story and movie these days is making a female character into the savior. It’s a bit annoying when every area of entertainment desensitizes male roles.

Historia
Abigail Haddock is stunning, sensible, and some would say...stuffy. But it's not really her fault. She was raised in one of Wessco's oldest, most affluent, aristocratic families - "stuffy" is their middle name. So is successful. Abby's working overtime to distinguish herself as a top-notch physician, just as her family legacy demands. She doesn't have time for nonsense. Tommy Sullivan's all about nonsense.

Fun Listen
Revisado: 01-14-24
I normally enjoy Andi’s narrations but this was terrible. Her faux accent was somewhere between posh Brit and the South States in America. Her southern twang aristocracy was super distracting. Rupert was great. Story was fun and engaging- the right mix of plot and sex.

Historia
If my childhood taught me anything, it was to survive. Now I have a deep-rooted mistrust of people and a wall of steel and ice surrounding my heart. So, when Reed Ryan steps into my life, I know I need to keep him far away. He’s everything I grew up hating. Fighting. Fleeing. Devastatingly handsome, he looks like a drunken regret and has heartbreak written over every inch of his body - literally. He’s the quintessential bad boy...and he’s a cop. But the man is my undoing.

Wow! What a surprise!
Revisado: 09-29-23
I totally stumbled upon this book and man am I glad I did!! I was looking for a book included with my membership to hold me over between credits; I scrolled though maybe 20+ titles and stopped on this one. I never read the description. Just purely selected it based off the cover. I’ve only ever done that once before and that time paid of big (I discovered the author MC Beaton aka Marion Chesney and her hilarious character series Agatha Raisin and more). Anyway, totally different genre from Agatha Raisin, I was in the mood for a great story, maybe a love story but not sappy, drama but not heavy hitting, enjoyable and light humored but not a satire and holy guacamole I landed on this and got all that and more. I’ll see what else this author wrote. She has a great way of creating intriqué and suspense without being overly intricate. A bit repetitive at times with the characters hating each other at first then living each later and hard to believe the deep rejecting emotions but the characters totally sold the story. The love scenes were hot but not too much. The colliding of characters from so many states away was a big stretch for me but it was well worked into the plot. I really liked all the characters and little ‘Easter eggs’ you’d get as the reader. Lala’s hand on her head, names with 4 letters. Narration was great. I Quite enjoyed this book. Lengthy but I love a good long read!
