Historia
In closely reported stories from the streets of New York to the seats of intellectual power, MacDonald shows how bad ideas get started and then acquire a life of their own. Her reports trace the transformation of influential opinion-makers and large philanthropic foundations from confident advocates of individual responsibility, opportunity, and learning into apologists for the welfare state.

Buying this book was a bad idea!
Revisado: 04-21-05
Within the first 12 min of this audio book this ?author? blames all the flaws of our (American) society on ?liberals? and the ?intellectual elites?.
Rather odd considering the fact that she:
1. graduated from Yale, Summa Cum Laude.
2. did her graduate studies at Cambridge University.
3. received her J.D. from Stanford University Law School.
4. actually won an Outstanding Intellectual Achievement award.
Oh yeah, she is also a frequent guest on Fox News. Need I say more?
This is a kinder, sweeter, gentler Ann Coulter - but far less entertaining.
Needless to say, don?t take this book seriously.

Historia
The polls indicate that 60 percent of Americans are "upset or angry" about this land in which we now live - a land where crooked courts select the president and money rules the day. If you're feeling the same way, here's the book for you. Michael Moore, the award-winning provocateur behind Roger & Me, returns to size up the new century - and that big, ugly special-interest group that's laying waste to the world as we know it: stupid white men.

You just may end up loving this big, fat, but certainly not stupid, white man and hating yourself.

Historia
In 2001, the government was seized by a ne'er-do-well rich boy and his elderly henchmen. Our great economic expansion unraveled, our water was poisoned, and SUVs advanced like a plague of locusts. Michael Moore has a lot to say and isn't holding back. The powerful are the target, and still are stupid white men. In this bleakly funny work, Moore reveals how the great and the good screw us over; how President George W. Bush stole an election; how the rich stay rich while forcing the rest of us to live in economic fear; and how politicians have whored themselves to big business.

Historia
If you think it’s getting harder to both make a living and make a life, economist and former secretary of labor Robert Reich agrees with you. Americans may be earning more than ever before, but we’re paying a steep price: we’re working longer, seeing our families less, and our communities are fragmenting. With the clarity and insight that are his hallmarks, Reich delineates what success has come to mean in our time. He demonstrates that although we have more choices as consumers, and investors, the choices themselves are undermining the rest of our lives.

One of the best books I have ever read
Revisado: 09-12-04
This book summarizes the consequence of globalization within the confines of our new economy with respect to our daily lives.
Thomas Friedman could learn a lot from Mr. Reich.
Full of meaningful statistics, analysis and insight and surprising entertaining.
Simply one of the best books I have ever read.

Enlightening
Revisado: 09-12-04
An incredibly disturbing portrait of our current President's and former President?s tangled relationship with the families who harbor terrorists.
It is astonishing that such a compromising political situation exits in America. It is perhaps even more shocking that both big media and we the people have let this uncomfortable relationship go unquestioned.
As one would expect, his book sheds a lot of light on the ?War on Terror?, both wars in Iraq and the finances of the USA.
This is a must read for all Americans before voting on November 2.
