Historia
"Tethered to the cross" is how the renowned 19th-century English Baptist Minister Charles H. Spurgeon (1834-1892) described the task of ministry and his approach to preaching. Tracing the development of Spurgeon's thought and his approach to biblical hermeneutics throughout his ministry, theologian and historian Thomas Breimaier argues that Spurgeon viewed the entire Bible through the lens of the cross of Christ.

As great of a man and preacher Sturgeon was, it didn’t translate well into his biography

You must pay attention too intently
Revisado: 07-17-24
I didn’t grasp that Christian had died in part one! The book seemed too convoluted and complex at times! Often it felt like it was plodding along! I very much preferred Bunyan’s A Holy War! The narrator was extraordinary!

A tedious and boring book.
Revisado: 07-06-24
I didn’t like that the author narrated his own book. Some authors possess a belief that are the best ones to interpret their own writing. David’s interpretation was quite choppy at times and overly histrionic. Frankly, I didn’t get the method to this writing! Except that it seemed like drudgery!

The Holy War tells the story of Mansoul, a utopia built to exalt the greatness and honor of its creator and leader, King Shaddai. However, when the wicked Diabolus, a former high servant of Shaddai's and the king of the blacks, assaults Mansoul, the town forgets its benevolent king and falls under his iniquitous rule. With the citizens of his beloved city lost to sin and vice, Shaddai sends his son, Prince Emmanuel, to deliver them from Diabolus' tyranny.

Truly Outstanding
Revisado: 02-08-22
There was nothing that I disliked about this work. Even though Pilgrim’s Progress is the more notable of Bunyan’s work, I derived more enjoyment out of The Holy War! It is a Classic allegory that depicts mankind’s daily struggles waged by good vs evil, Christ vs Satan, and for possession of a human’s soul! The Holy War is timeless and Bunyan in a sense seems ahead of his time as an author! I reveled in the content of this audiobook and the masterful job of narration and interpretations by the magnificent Derek Perkins!!

Nothing captures the imagination like a story. Jesus's stories were so enthralling that even his enemies forgot about time and circumstance. In the mainly post-agrarian society of today, Ellen White's work rekindles in the modern listener the same all-absorbing quality of Jesus' stories.

There’s Only One Barbara Caruso!
Revisado: 07-12-21
Barbara Caruso has seized the manuscript for Christ’s Object Lessons as she has done with other Ellen G. White books and has placed the listener not just in the mind of Ellen but also in the heart of God! I find her narration and vocal delivery captivating and penetrating straight to my heart! She has almost spoiled me for other narrators!

The Narrator is a great storyteller!
Revisado: 11-29-19
Listening to this audiobook, I never felt like the narrator was reading copy. It had the feel of someone telling a great story with some fantastic writing by Noel Hynd. I simply loved the way he used more than a few well placed voice characterizations throughout the read. The singing in a few places was somewhat comical but certainly very well placed. This is an excellent purchase for one's self or as a Christmas gift.
