Great addition to this new universe.
Revisado: 11-21-23
Butcher has hit the mark with the follow up story to his new world of Spires. This book picks up well on they story set in the first one and expounds on questions and ideas not fully explored in the first story. As much as I look forward to reading more Dresden Files I eagerly await another installment in this series!

Historia
In the world of Warbreaker, each person is born endowed with the power of one Breath―which can be sold and collected by others, then used to Awaken objects and even corpses to do their bidding. A few individuals who die in glory return as gods, with the power of thousands of Breath, but no memory of their mortal lives―and are enthroned in the Court of Gods in Hallandren’s capital. To Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris, the abuse of Breath and the claim of the Returned to be gods are repugnant blasphemy.

Great story with a little bit of everything.

A nice thought out magic system that isn't too complex for the reader to understand, a rich dynamic world with political and societal tensions that the reader is drawn to care about. A host of characters with different motivations and personalities all coexisting. This is a wonderful story and the voice acting was very well done great listen!

When I started working at Salacious Players’ Club, I never expected to end up on the auction block ready to grant a date to the highest bidder. This club is not really my scene. I’m not the kind of girl rich guys take home. I’m more a piano playing, van-living, free spirit kind of girl.

Great Plot Lost, Never to be Seen Again
Revisado: 09-20-23
The story started off beautifully, lacking some world building, but that's fine. However, it changed in the middle of the book. 4 soild chapters went by with no plot progression at all, just sműț which is fine for some but had me skipping ahead A LOT. When the plot did pick back up, it was all over the place and felt like the "secert" was overshadowed by an arbitrary issue that doesn't make sense given the DDLG dynamic. The SPOILER SENTENCE AHEAD "we both need to grow up and fix our own problems separately then come back together" doesn't make any sense in real relationships or DDLG dynamics. The point of both is to help each other grow and flourish together, not heal and come back.
Overall, the writing itself was well done, but it left me wanting more world building. The story just got lost for me and was unrealistic toward the end. Voice actors were decent!

Ryan has given us a strong well done conclusion to this great series. this was a great series that had me hooked and eager for more. There were some issues in the audio recording with odd pauses or volume issues but nothing to truly hinder the experience.

A dirty deal was struck. Humanity was allowed to keep 300 rebellious worlds. In return, we declared war on a powerful enemy from beyond the frontier. A frantic build-up of forces has begun, but the task is hopeless. Seeking allies, Earth's legions are sent to Blood World. A planet on the fringe of known space, where the people only respect masters of combat. Earth's Legions must impress them, but other alien powers have been invited to join the contest. Same story same lack of development.
Revisado: 07-07-23
Same story as all the other books. Main character finds himself in some plot he doesn't agree with and thinks he's better than and finds away to mess everything up and miraculously saves the day, and because the character has learned no responsibility or grown up in the 20 years he wrecks it all again at the end. The constant misogyny towards every woman character is annoying at this point and the plot holes created by the main characters lack of development over the last 8 books is tiresome.

The Galactics arrived with their Battle Fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined a vast Empire that spanned the Milky Way. Today, Battle Fleet 921 is returning to Earth. It hasn't been seen by human eyes since our blissful day of Annexation. Starting to lose the steam.
Revisado: 07-05-23
Books have been repetitive in formula. the promotions the main character are meaningless and the inconsistencies from book to book are piling up. The rigidity of the military command structure which has always been loose as to allow the narrative was nearly forgotten, and the main characters "flaw" to fall for every woman is just annoying at this point, especially when it comes to the new recruit it was disappointing. This book had some good parts with the use of more Galactics but too much was the same repetition.

Leave you wanting, not in the best way.
Revisado: 04-19-23
Of the 11 hours of this book, I managed to get to 2 hours left before giving up. The story is written beautifully, with lots of details but a bit too much environmental building in the first half of the book ( 2 hours worth before any real plot begins). The downfall for me is that every time there is a moment between the two that could develop into something inmate, the chapter ends. Every. Single. Time. It's very much a slow burn to a fault. Some readers don't mind, but unfortunately, it just isn't for me.
The narrators both have some points about them that wasnt great. The female narrator was very malotic at times, going very flat and non-expressive. The male was better but still droned on at times.
Would I recommend reading? Only to those who like lots of environmental building coupled with agonizing slow burn.

I earned my reputation among magicians for a reason: one wrong move and you're dead. Killer, they called me, and killing is what I'm best at. Except her. The one I was supposed to take, the one I should have killed–I didn't. The cult that once controlled me wants her, and I'm not about to lose my new toy to them.

A Painter of Words!
Revisado: 01-06-23
As an avid romance and erotica reader for many years, this is the first book in a LONG TIME that not only offers a beautifully detailed story but also extraordinarily HOT scenes AND a compelling storyline! The narrators performed and portrayed the charaters so perfectly it was almost real.
My ONE and ONLY tiny complaint is the ending felt rushed. It's a 12 hour book but the climax and resolution of the story happened the last hour, leaving the want for more of a fully fleshed out conclusion.
This would have been 10/10 if not for the rushed ending, but definitely a solid 9/10 for everything else. Top 5 romances on my list. So excited to read the next.

Where is the plot??? 10 hours later...
Revisado: 12-30-22
The beginning was great but as I kept listening thinking we'll eventually get to some sort of over arching plot with only two hours left, there's just śmút. Almost every single chapter is back to back śmūt scene with very little charater development, and after 10 hours and no kind of climax, conflict or resolution I give up. Save your credit and find another story with 10% more plot.
