Historia
In the small town of Abbott Creek, mystery is as much a part of daily life as the sweet shop's pumpkin pies. Katie Chupp spends her days at the sweet shop...baking for the upcoming holidays and enjoying the changing seasons. Thanksgiving is approaching and the residents of Abbott Creek are preparing to give thanks for their blessings. But between fielding questions from every person in town who is desperate to find out where Mrs. Simpkins has gone, to finding extra help for the busy holiday season, Katie's blessings this year are being outweighed by her problems.

For sure and for certain.....
Revisado: 11-24-22
Very little plot here, just meandering daily activities. Dialog very wooden and repeating. Luckily the story was short and cheap.

Historia
On paper, Chris Brennan looks perfect. He's applying for a job as a high school government teacher, he's ready to step in as an assistant baseball coach, and his references are impeccable. But everything about Chris Brennan is a lie. Susan Sematov is proud of her son Raz, a high school pitcher so athletically talented that he's being recruited for a full-ride scholarship to a Division I college, with a future in major-league baseball. But Raz’s father died only a few months ago, leaving her son in a vulnerable place where any new father figure might influence him for good, or evil.

Love this author but this is not her best work
Revisado: 11-15-22
Had me pulled in and confused at first, but things began to make sense of why Chris was there. Can't possibly guess the "who dun it" because the reader lacks the info needed to figure it out. That's not good or bad, it is just what it is. Ended up really liking Chris as a character.
This narrator has TERRIBLE female voices. They all sound like idiots.

In only 90 seconds, a fire in The Station nightclub in Rhode Island left 100 people dead or dying and injured hundreds more. It would take years to find out why - and who was really at fault. Best-selling author and three-time Emmy Award-winning journalist Scott James investigates all the central figures, including the band’s manager and lead singer, the fire inspector, the maker of the acoustical foam, as well as the brothers.

Biased but still good
Revisado: 02-09-22
Very complete telling of the event but there is an obvious bias towards the author's former colleague, the club's owner. The author repeatedly points out the bias of the media and the government. This is more the owners' side of the story. The "truth" lies somewhere in between the two, I expect. Still, well written and gripping. It was good to hear the perspectives and experiences of the survivors and to hear what they had to deal with following the tragedy.

The stories are good, but you have to wade through so much girl chatting and unrelated crap to get to them. Focus, ladies!

Way too melodramatic
Revisado: 07-01-21
This is a good premise, great topics. But the narrator is way too sarcastic and snarky and it distracts from the story. She reminds me of an immature teenager in her delivery. The personal commentary and attempt at wit has to go
