Not bad? But heavy on world building light on plot
Revisado: 01-28-23
I'll start by saying that this book overall wasn't bad, and I suspect the series has a lot of potential. But this first book was a bit rough, I feel like I was reading an early unedited draft of a novel, literally 1/2 of the novel was the main character just meeting random people whom I assume will play a prominent role in future books.
The main antagonist is an admiral who has decided to make Captain Romanoff's life difficult, although her main motivations for doing such seems a little thin. I really feel like there was some missing back story on this relationship that we never got (maybe we will in a future novel?).
And perhaps most frustratingly this novel abruptly ends just as the plot is picking up. It literally just ends in it's second act. As I said, I feel like with the right editor this book could actually be really amazing, instead it was filled with all kinds of odd creative decisions.
And yet despite all of it's flaws, I found The Last Hunter to be an enjoyable read, managing to keep me entertained all the way through. And I will likely read the next novel as I'm curious to see where this series goes.

Historia
After the Renegade mission by the crew of the starship Flying Dutchman, the UN Expeditionary Force thought Earth was safe for hundreds of years, at least. After there was trouble on the home front and the president had to authorize a nuclear strike on an American city, UNEF decided they did need the Merry Band of Pirates again. So, the Flying Dutchman is sent out on a simple recon mission. But for the pirates, nothing is ever simple, and their mission will become Armageddon.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Historia
Something called the “Blue Juice" is coming. For all of us. Luckily, me (Chip Collins), Pete, Nikola Tesla, Bobo, and FBI Agent Gina Phillips are here to kick its ass, and send it back to last Tuesday. Maybe. Or maybe we'll fail, and everyone in the multiverse is doomed. (Seriously, you might want to get that underground bunker ready.) Either way, I've got to get home to Julie and find out – woah, I'm not about to tell you that right here in the book description! TMI, dude.

Rob Dirks writing has really improved as this installment strikes a great balance between a fun silly story with heart warming moments mixed in for dramatic effect. This was a great listen.

Amazing.
Revisado: 10-03-18
Just finished Replay and... Wow.
Replay follows the wandering journey of a man who through inexplicable means is given the chance to live his life over and over again. The author, Ken Grimwood is a man who (no matter what age he wrote this book) is wise beyond his years. Replay offers much to reflect upon, especially if you like the protagonist of the book are in the middle of your life with many years, decisions, and roads not crossed behind you, and yet potentially with many more to come. This book is going on my highly recommended list.

I don't know what the humans are so cranky about. Their enclosures are large, they ingest over 1,000 calories per day, and they're allowed to mate. Plus, they have me: an Autonomous Servile Unit, housed in a mobile/bipedal chassis. I do my job well: keep the humans healthy and happy.

Amazing!
Revisado: 01-22-18
One of the best books I've ever read. If you have had the misfortune of reading the summary listed for this book then please don't, it has two major flaws #1 it gives too much of the plot away, #2 it really doesn't do the plot of this amazing book any justice. 'A gift of time' is a well written, incredibly heartfelt book. Give this one a shot, I promise you won't regret it.

When I first heard about this series my first thought was there's no way I'm going to make it though any of these books, they are so long! Well I made it through Words of Radiance and despite it's length I can't wait to dive into the next book.
Over the course of the first two books I really started to fall in love with these characters. I really can't say enough about how great this series is.

Lacked the charm of the earlier books...
Revisado: 08-07-17
Overall the three nine line was an okay entry to the Logan Cordell series, but this entry lacked a lot of what made the earlier books so fun. Book four was light on humor, character development, inspiring passages about the joy of flying. It dif have a few action scenes but nothing too compelling. It's a shame because the first few books were surprisingly well done.
This book was heavy on mystery, with a crime procedural element. So if that's your thing then go for it. I bought books four and five on sale, I already own the next entry in the series so I will definitely be listening to the next book I just hope David Freed injects a little more fun at the sake of the nitty gritty detective work that was heavy in this book.
