Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

I have been listening to audiobooks for over 10 years and this joins a handful of others as best of the best. Pleasant to listen to, heart-wrenching to process, comforting to hear.

Historia
Our ancestors crossed deserts, mountains, and oceans without even a whisper of what anyone today might consider modern technology. Those feats of endurance now seem impossible in an age where we take comfort for granted. But what if we could regain some of our lost evolutionary strength by simulating the environmental conditions of our forbears? Investigative journalist and anthropologist Scott Carney takes up the challenge to find out: Can we hack our bodies and use the environment to stimulate our inner biology?

I was skeptical, then grateful he was too
Revisado: 07-13-17
I love doing physically difficult things like obstacle courses, etc. so I really wanted to love this book but as a skeptic I am often doubtful of philosophies that tout "the best way to live is like our ancient ancestors" given all of the progress that modernity has given us. so I was beyond pleased to realize that the author really went into these methods expecting to debunk them, and instead when he found that they were effective went to search the science behind them. My only regret is that this book wasn't longer. The narration was very pleasant as well.

I can't say enough how wonderful
Revisado: 05-17-17
this book surprise me at how phenomenally it was arranged and told. if you had asked me if I would be this enamored with a 15 hour long book about the life of a Park Ranger, I have been highly doubtful and wrong. I will recommend this book in audiobook and hard copy form for years to come I'm sure.

Historia
It begins as an assignment for English class: Write a letter to a dead person. Laurel chooses Kurt Cobain because her sister, May, loved him. And he died young, just like May. Soon, Laurel has a notebook full of letters to the dead - to people like Janis Joplin, Heath Ledger, Amelia Earhart, and Amy Winehouse - though she never gives a single one of them to her teacher. She writes about starting high school, navigating the choppy waters of new friendships, learning to live with her splintering family, falling in love for the first time, and, most important, trying to grieve for May.

Historia
For Kitty Doe, it seems like an easy choice. She can either spend her life as a III in misery, looked down upon by the higher ranks and forced to leave the people she loves, or she can become a VII and join the most powerful family in the country. If she says yes, Kitty will be Masked - surgically transformed into Lila Hart, the Prime Minister's niece, who died under mysterious circumstances. As a member of the Hart family, she will be famous. She will be adored. And for the first time, she will matter.

Totally out preformed my expectations!
Revisado: 02-10-17
If you love first person female protagonist dystopian trilogies as I do (they are my listening candy to break up textbooks and assigned reading/listening) this one is a hidden gem. Better than many as a book one. I usually expect the first book to be a little cliche before the meat of a series comes in 2 & 3 but this one defies that rule. The sample clip had me worried that the narrator would be too old to be befitting a young woman, but that seems to have been just in the clip. A narrator can break a good book and in this one she does the character more than justice.

This book was enjoyable and enlightening. To really realize how much work went into the election of females in the U.S. legislature, and how recently it all occurred, really made me grateful and inspired. I would recommend this to all those who are interested in politics and progress. Loved the narration as well.

Revisado: 12-14-16
This book was a super down to earth perspective of a real American story. It was funny and informative. it progresses, like her life, from the voice of a young, scared girl, to a passionate, polished leader and woman. Glad I listened all the way through.
