Historia
Mark, Todd, and Zola came to law school to change the world, to make it a better place. But now, as third-year students, these close friends realize they have been duped. They all borrowed heavily to attend a third-tier, for-profit law school so mediocre that its graduates rarely pass the bar exam, let alone get good jobs. And when they learn that their school is one of a chain owned by a shady New York hedge-fund operator who also happens to own a bank specializing in student loans, the three know they have been caught up in The Great Law School Scam.

Interesting but somewhat unsatisfying
Revisado: 11-24-24
I typically love Mr Grisham’s novels but this one left me a bit unsatisfied. Ii will certainly be back reading more of his works as overall he is one of my favorite authors.

A Heartbreaking summation of pure love.
Revisado: 05-13-22
There is no purer love than one between human and their pet. Dog lovers will adore these pages and be able to so personally identify with the authors grief. Dogs are not just pets. They devote their entire being to those of us lucky enough to have had that bond. Love in its purest form comes to us wrapped in dog fur.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Brilliant and Iconic
Revisado: 10-13-19
Rarely is there a novel so engrossing that I am sorry I’ve come to the end. This is one of those few. The author writes such extraordinary character descriptions that if I were to pass by any one of them on the street I would know them at
a glance. I enjoyed not knowing where the story was going, and how beautifully the blurred lines between good and evil. How fate enters and all bad things have good in them, happy events can contain sad and how what may at first appear a tragedy can become what leads us to the greater good. One of my all time favorite books.
I want to say as well this is one of the most brilliantly performed audiobooks by the very talented narrator. The best I’ve heard. Very deftly reading each character in their own voice complete with accents and intonations made this a joy to listen to. He’s quite possibly spoiled it for all other narrators.

Historia
Call Me by Your Name first swept across the world in 2007. It is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents' cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.

Not much of a story
Revisado: 06-28-19
While I enjoyed Mr. Hammers voice , inflections and perfect elocution, that alone couldn’t save the overall lack of story. I understand that there was excruciating longing which the author made perfectly clear but nothing happens. I was bored to tears.

Revisado: 06-11-17
This story sucked me in and kept me wanting more. I loved the way the author slowly unwound the backstory. It kept me involved and it was very easy to empathize with the main character. The story is an interesting mix of historical and futuristic.

Historia
Dune Road is the story of life in an exclusive beach town after the tourists have left for the summer and the eccentric (and moneyed) community sticks around. Our heroine is a single mom who works for a famous - and famously reclusive - novelist. When she stumbles on a secret that the great man has kept hidden for years, she knows that there are plenty of women in town who would love to get their hands on it - including some who fancy the writer for themselves.

Light chick lit

This story would be good for the beach or for light reading where you don't need to pay close attention. The story leaves a lot to be desired. Predictable, too long for the shallowness of the story

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Historia
It's a summer's evening in Amsterdam, and two couples meet at a fashionable restaurant for dinner. Between mouthfuls of food and over the polite scrapings of cutlery, the conversation remains a gentle hum of polite discourse - the banality of work, the triviality of the holidays. But behind the empty words, terrible things need to be said, and with every forced smile and every new course, the knives are being sharpened. Each couple has a 15-year-old son. The two boys are united by their accountability for a single horrific act; an act that has triggered a police investigation and shattered the comfortable, insulated worlds of their families.

Oliver Sacks' The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat tells the stories of individuals afflicted with fantastic perceptual and intellectual aberrations: patients who have lost their memories and with them the greater part of their pasts; who are no longer able to recognize people and common objects; who are stricken with violent tics and grimaces or who shout involuntary obscenities; whose limbs have become alien; who have been dismissed as retarded yet are gifted with uncanny artistic or mathematical talents.

In depth neuropsychological clinical case studies
Revisado: 02-08-15
I am fascinated by the cases the author writes and have always been interested in the blurred line between the neurological and the psychological events that play out as pathologies. Excellent book that probes this phenomena.
