There have been many Marines. There have been many marksmen. But there has been only one Sergeant Carlos Hathcock, a legend of Marine lore. He stalked the Viet Cong behind enemy lines. His record has never been matched: 93 confirmed kills. This is his story. Powerful, chilling, and all true.

Excellent Book on the life of a Legend
Revisado: 05-27-22
This book is so good and I highly recommend it to new shooters as Gunny tells how it is done at long distances. The importance of the slow trigger pull. A solid book for any marksman looking to improve. Great book. Probably the 8th or 9th time I’ve either read it or listen to it.

Historia
Hampton Sides' superb account of this epic clash in the Korean War relies on years of archival research, unpublished letters, declassified documents, and interviews with scores of marines and Koreans who survived the siege. While expertly detailing the follies of the American leaders, On Desperate Ground is an immediate, grunt's-eye view of history, enthralling in its narrative pace and powerful in its portrayal of what ordinary men are capable of in the most extreme circumstances.

I will say that after listening to the Forester series about Hornblower. I wasn’t sure I would find another that equaled it. I have! This is better and detailed of the life and war back then. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys the old ships of the line.

Historia
At the time of the French Revolution, one of Britain's most skillful naval officers, Charles Saunders Hayden, is a young lieutenant, the son of an English father and a French mother. His abilities and his loyalty to the king of England are beyond dispute, yet his career seems doomed by his "mixed" heritage and lack of political connections. Consequently, Hayden is assigned to an aging frigate, the Themis, under the command of Captain Josiah Hart, a man known as "Faint Hart" throughout the service.
