Historia
Steve Wheeler is enjoying retired life in the New Forest. He does the odd bit of investigation work, but he likes his familiar habits and routines. His days of adventure are over: adrenaline is daughter-in-law Amy’s business now. Amy Wheeler thinks adrenaline is good for the soul: she doesn’t stay still long enough for a habit or routine. She’s currently on a private island keeping world-famous author Rosie D’Antonio alive. Which was meant to be an easy job. Then a dead body, a bag of money, and a killer with their sights on Amy mean an end to Steve’s quiet life.

Wonderful! Strong start to a new series, with rich characters and expert plotting.
It’s not The Thursday Murder Club, because it’s not supposed to be. The story stands on its own, and tees up a new exciting and hilarious series beautifully.
I cannot wait to hear what Amy, Rosie and Stevie get up to as the series progresses.

Born to a prominent Chicago judge and his stifled socialite wife, Mia Dennett moves against the grain as a young inner-city art teacher. One night, Mia enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn't show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. With his smooth moves and modest wit, Colin Thatcher seems at first like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia's life.

Good Girl a Good Listen
Revisado: 06-13-17
The character of Eve seems a little loose to me, almost as though not much attention was given to her, despite her narrating and featuring prominently in the book.
Our Detective's character was good to me. Likable, but in no way remarkable. Makes sense given the ultimate outcome of the storyline.
Mia was another incomplete character to me. By all accounts she was a normal hand

Not one to bury without a listen
Revisado: 05-16-16
At first I interpreted the narrator as lazy, but soon realized that his style and speed epitomized the lead character - and that instead of lazy, this character is reserved, calm the kind of guy who is so incredibly ordinary by design of circumstance , and choice that he couldn't be a more perfect step-up character! As soon as the other characters came in to play it seemed obvious that this narrator is versatile and consistent in his portrayal of each personality.
I enjoyed the story line, as although I didn't find it particularly original, it wasn't bland either.
A relatively easy listen if you are only just breaking in to this genre and looking for something that isn't too suspenseful or gory, but still has the necessary plot twists and turns to make for moderate suspense.
Overall, the book didn't overwhelm me, but I found it easy listening while working and performing chores. I felt I could listen with half an ear at times and still deduce the plot line and catch up without the need TravelLinck double back.

Historia
No.1 bestselling author Patricia Cornwell delivers the next enthralling thriller in her high-stakes series starring Kay Scarpetta - a complex tale involving a serial sniper who strikes chillingly close to the forensic sleuth herself. It's Chief Medical Examiner Dr Kay Scarpetta's birthday, and while she's enjoying a leisurely morning, a man is shot dead five minutes from her house. The bullet tore through him as he unloaded groceries from his car. Yet nobody heard or saw a thing.

Hit and then it hit the floor
Revisado: 08-16-15
I am a Scarpetta fan and found this audio book a good listen. Great narration, with authentic accents and distinguishable character voices, which are always a pleasure. I found the storyline very credible and interesting.
The only flaw for me was a eager sudden and flat ending. I realize the intended purpose of it, bout found it to be a rather bland ending to an otherwise rise momentum-building story.

Downright Mean Girl Rant
Revisado: 07-30-15
Let me start my review by saying that I think Holly's performance was excellent! She clearly has a stage presence, which translates in to her narration and she very adequately portrait the different voices for the various characters.
That said, her version of events is just that, an extremely biased account of her "adventures". Although I admire her ultimate success and tenacity, and by no means wish to diminish her heartache or her hard work, her version of events did not come across as entirely truthful and she was very careful to paint herself as the victim in every scenario. She seems to especially quickly pass blame or divert attention on subject relating to her own questionable decisions and behavior. Classic case of "oh the devil made me do it!" and almost complete lack of ownership for her own bad decisions and altercations.
To me, this was not as much a candid account of her life, as it was a bitching session.

Historia
Boston Detective Jane Rizzoli is on the case of a big game hunter found dead in his apartment, alone with the body of a beautiful white snow leopard he had recently been commissioned to procure and stuff for a high-profile museum in the area. Medical examiner Maura Isles connects the case to a number of seemingly unrelated deaths where the victims have all been found hanging upside down, the hallmark of a leopard's kill.

Good story line, not an overwhelming performance
Revisado: 07-22-15
Overall I enjoyed the story line. However, being South African I found neither the South African, nor the British accents of characters credible. Often the voices were so similar, it was difficult to distinguish.
All that being said, my overall summary is a good story and an okay performance.

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

Gone Girl, Gone The Plot
Revisado: 04-07-15
Too long. A great listen, up to a point. From there it fizzled out for me.
The story could have ended on several occasions before its actual languishing death, and still have been very effective. By the time it was finally over the climax was not nearly a surprise, or as ominously interesting as I suspect was intended. An open ending, sooner, would have been more effective.
I was not disappointed overall, I simply wished it was over sooner.

Three Star Performance
Revisado: 03-05-15
The book was fairly enjoyable and I am not certain that I would have enjoyed it more had I simple read it.
The narration was good pet character, but I did not feel the need for individual character voices, especially sincere primary narrator did a great job of assigning clear voices and accents to each. By the time the "other character voices" popped in I already had a clear vision of the character and to me the additional voices simply interfered with my mental image already created for each character.
Overall not a bad listen. Unusual, interesting, subject matter added to a standard romance story line.

Pleasant Listen
Revisado: 02-09-15
I enjoyed the story line and the characters, even the narrator's voice overall. The only thing that truly puts off slightly, was the female voices. Although the narrator did an excellent job of give each character a clearly discernible personality and voice, I could not help but picture the females as drag queens. I appreciate the effort made by the narrator for each voice, but I had trouble believe the female characters and building strong images of them that were purely feminine.
Aside from this, I enjoyed the book.
