Historia
When Elon Musk was a kid in South Africa, he was regularly beaten by bullies. One day a group pushed him down some concrete steps and kicked him until his face was a swollen ball of flesh. He was in the hospital for a week. But the physical scars were minor compared to the emotional ones inflicted by his father, an engineer, rogue, and charismatic fantasist.

Elon Musk Gets Things Done
Revisado: 05-25-24
In my almost six decades on this earth I have been a voracious reader of non-fiction American history and the key players. The author hits it out of the park, as he has done on many books. Narration is just as good. I have often thought about people in history I would love to spend a day with if I could go back in time. It's always been a toss-up between George Washington and Ben Franklin. I've always been in awe of them and their accomplishments against incredible odds. Now I have a contemporary to add to that list. Elon Musk. What he has accomplished, and still going, will be just as amazing to history buffs 250 years from now. Not a perfect man, but neither were Washington or Franklin. Elon would have fit perfectly in the Age of Enlightement. You won't regret this book.

Historia
When veteran war reporter Benjamin Hall woke up in Kyiv on the morning of March 14, 2022, he had no idea that, within hours, Russian bombs would nearly end his life. As a journalist for Fox News, Hall had worked in dangerous war zones like Syria and Afghanistan, but with three young daughters at home, life on the edge was supposed to be a thing of the past. Yet when Russia viciously attacked Ukraine in February 2022, Hall quickly volunteered to go. A few weeks later, while on assignment, Hall and his crew were blown up in a Russian strike.

DO NOT DENY YOURSELF THIS LISTEN!!!
Revisado: 04-15-23
This audio book was much more than I expected. I thought it would be excellent, But the truth is I can hardly articulate the justice this book deserves.
I am well over 200 audio books and probably close to 1000 books over my lifetime when combined what I've read (primarily non-fiction). This book has to be top 3 at least. i So much more than just the story of you think. Benjamin Hall himself is an incredible person and could even be someone you might say whose character you would hope to emulate.
My kids are grown, but if they were still at home this would be required reading (listening). I'm still going to recommend to them! Benjamin Hall reading it himself just completely puts it over the top.
I hardly ever write reviews, but this one had to be done! If you were only to have one Audible credit, this would be the book.

Historia
They landed in a dust storm so thick the pilot used dead reckoning and a guess to find the ground. Welcomed by a band of heavily armed militiamen, they climbed a mountain on horseback to meet the most ferocious warlord in Asia. They plotted a war of nineteenth-century maneuvers against a twenty-first-century foe. They trekked through minefields, sometimes past the mangled bodies of local tribesmen who'd shared food with them hours before. The men they helped called them brothers. Hollywood called them the Horse Soldiers. They called themselves Green Berets—Special Forces ODA 595.

Historia
Six months after Pearl Harbor, the seemingly invincible Imperial Japanese Navy prepared a decisive blow against the United States. After sweeping through Asia and the South Pacific, Japan's military targeted the tiny atoll of Midway, an ideal launching pad for the invasion of Hawaii and beyond. But the United States Navy was waiting for them. Thanks to cutting-edge code-breaking technology, tactical daring, and a huge stroke of luck, the Americans under Admiral Chester W. Nimitz dealt the Japanese navy its first major defeat of the war.

IT'S PRONOUNCED "SINK-PACK"!!!!
Revisado: 03-01-22
Not "Sincey-Pack". Being Retired Military, I hate it when narrators mis-pronounce military acronyms. Didn't anyone listen to the narrator before he proceeded to narrate the whole book mispronouncing CINCPAC? Geez. Even someone that's never been in the Military and has watched a WWII Naval war movie knows it's not pronounced "Sincey-Pack". It's "Sink-Pack"!!!

Not My Taste of Writing Style
Revisado: 06-22-21
In no way do I want take away from Robert Leckie as one of the many Heroes of the Greatest Generation. But I am providing this review only to let others know what to expect. I will tell you if you enjoy poetry, you will probably be very happy with this book. I have been a voracious reader for over five decades since I was a child, but I just never could develop a taste for most poetry.
Mr Leckie's descriptive writing style and use of metaphors for what seems every sentence are over-used for my own personal tastes. Unfortunately, I have decided not to finish the book after only a few chapters. I know many enjoy this writing style and will very much appreciate this book. But, if you share my tastes, I would highly recommend instead "With The Old Breed" by E.B. Sledge who's book was also used for the HBO "Pacific" series.

Narrator Ruins Experience
Revisado: 09-23-19
Living in Northeast PA, I was very interested in this book. However within five minutes I couldn't stand the staccato reading. I tried getting through a few chapters but finally had to stop. This is a book, not a set of instructions. The over emphasis on the word "and" is like fingernails on a chalkboard. I will be seeking a refund for this book.

Good book, Narrator not so much
Revisado: 08-17-19
If you have deep interest in US Governing documents, this is a must read. But if your interest is more or less casual, you may have a hard time enjoying the book. Narrator is monotone, at times sounding like a computer voice. While you of course don't want somone, on a work such as this, that is going to be more dramatic on portions they feel strongly about and gloss over others...a little more life would be recommended.

Revisado: 11-21-18
This book was not at all what I expected. I had passed by it many times as I would look for my next book to download. I expected more of a lambasting of politicians who I also share the opinion are bad for the Nation. This book was much deeper in identifying and calling out root problems that the elites do not want you to think about. Download this book, I don't believe you will be disappointed at all!

Historia
Americans revere their Constitution. However, most of us are unaware how tumultuous and improbable the drafting and ratification processes were. As Benjamin Franklin keenly observed, any assembly of men bring with them "all their prejudices, their passions, their errors of opinion, their local interests and their selfish views." One need not deny that the Framers had good intentions in order to believe that they also had interests.

Good reference, but some conclusions are opinion.
Revisado: 08-27-18
I found this book to be extremely well researched. However I found the author's final hour of conclusions to be more of opinion than fact. Some I agree with, some I disagree with. While I found the majority of the book to be for the most part objective "reporting" for the reader to draw their own conclusions. I find some conclusions to be subjective to what the author wants and presents as fact. Overall I find this to be a good reference into the nitty gritty of the framers state of mind. But must be balanced with other reads that include framers statements and writings that were not included in this book.
