Historia
Two teens appear out of nowhere, ransacking a small-town grocery and attacking the police officers who come to investigate. Their clothes are torn and filthy, their hands and bare feet callused, they have fangs. They’re sister and brother, alone against the world. Where did they come from? Raised by wolves, they say. Kai and Holo are taken in by the police chief and his wife, and begin adjusting to life in a small town, attending school and going on dates. But humans, they find, are the most vicious animals. And the mystery of their upbringing brings dark and powerful forces to Kokanee Creek.

Books can be an escape. This book isn't something I can even pretend to enjoy. Certainly didn't take me to another place. It was not for me. No thanks!

The second novel from Laura Dave, the acclaimed author of Eight Hundred Grapes and Hello Sunshine. This book seemed to go on and on. Not a book for me. Divorce at a later age. Conflict between adult kids. A divorce party celebrating what?

Historia
Lust...Nowhere on Earth is the very essence of the word nurtured, encouraged, and exploited more than deep inside Sin City. Russian SVR assassin-turned-American-agent Anya Burinkova must relive the horrors of her training at the hands of her former Soviet masters to claw her way into a terrifying world where human life is little more than a commodity for sale to the highest bidder in this journey behind the glittering lights, and into the depths of the real Las Vegas that few ever see and even fewer survive.

What could be more restful than a weekend getaway with family and friends? An isolated luxury cabin in the woods, spectacular views, a hot tub and a personal chef. Hannah’s generous brother found the listing online. The reviews are stellar. It'll be three couples on this trip with good food, good company and lots of R & R. But the dreamy weekend is about to turn into a nightmare.

Not that secluded.
Revisado: 11-13-22
Reviews are tricky. I can find good in most all books. However, authors give clues from the beginning of a book. Good, bad, confused and maybe.
I knew from the get go who was what. So if you like books that leave little as far who has done what, this book may be for you.
Secluded cabin. I live in a secluded place. The cabin in this book, not so much.

Historia
Viktor Orlov had a longstanding appointment with death. Once Russia’s richest man, he now resides in splendid exile in London, where he has waged a tireless crusade against the authoritarian kleptocrats who have seized control of the Kremlin. His mansion in Chelsea’s exclusive Cheyne Walk is one of the most heavily protected private dwellings in London. Yet somehow, on a rainy summer evening, in the midst of a global pandemic, Russia’s vengeful president finally manages to cross Orlov’s name off his kill list.

Political commentary in disguise
Revisado: 07-15-21
I like Daniel Silva. I don’t like to pay to read a book of fiction where the author uses his earned reputation to make political comments about President Trump, Covid, Russia. Voting issues.
Very disappointed.

Historia
In a tale inspired by real events, pregnant journalist Joan Harken is cautiously excited to follow her fiancé back to his Minnesota hometown. After spending a childhood on the move and chasing the screams and swirls of news-rich city life, she’s eager to settle down. Lilydale’s motto, “Come Home Forever,” couldn’t be more inviting. And yet, something is off in the picture-perfect village. The friendliness borders on intrusive. Joan can’t shake the feeling that every move she makes is being tracked. An archaic organization still seems to hold the town in thrall.

History. Does it, will it repeat itself?
Revisado: 01-05-21
Bloodline is fictional. It has shades of past historical events. It also shows us that history can, has and will be repeated.
I listen and read all fiction knowing the words are a result of an author taking the time to write, research and finally entertain the reader. Entertainment can be educational and frightening.

Historia
When I arrive unannounced at my husband's studio in need of a shoulder to cry on after hearing that my best student, Alex, has died, I see a pair of wineglasses drying by the sink, and my deepest fear is confirmed: my husband is having an affair. Most women would fall to their knees in tears and throw him out of the house - but I just can't bring myself to do it. Instead, I go home and cook a healthy dinner for our children, walk the dog, and unload the dishwasher without complaint. I need this marriage to work to protect a terrible secret of my own....

Mental
Revisado: 11-30-20
This story has both blatant lies and lies we tell ourselves. Both lies are hurtful and become seeded as truth inside our minds. The more we tell lies and listen to them the more they become a part of who we are.
I knew something was very wrong with perceptions within the characters of Unfaithful. It isn’t until the end of the book that it becomes clear as to what was skewed.
If you want to read a book that has many bumps along the reading road, this book may be for you.
