Historia
All the zany Wodehouse characters are here: Bertie, Gussie Fink-Nottle, Madeline Bassett, and Aunt Dahlia. All the humorous chaos of misunderstandings, puns, and pranks are present: someone must hand out prizes at the Market Snodsbury Grammar School, a lovers' spat finds Bertie engaged to Madeline, and a hunger strike causes the cook to give notice. The inevitable rescue by Jeeves, brilliantly conceived and executed, averts disaster and saves nitwit Bertie Wooster.

Madcap fun as schemes for saving true love go awry
Revisado: 07-15-21
First PG Wodehouse story I've ever read, and I found it light, funny, and sublimely humorous, as Bertie Wooster's schemes to bring two couples together go horribly awry, and only through Jeeves' intervention does each situation resolve. Several laugh out loud moments.

Historia
A reckless wager between a tennis pro with a fading career and a drunken party guest - the stakes are an antique motorcycle and an heiress' diamond necklace - launches a narrative odyssey that braids together three centuries of aspiration and adversity. In The Maze at Windermere Gregory Blake Smith weaves these intersecting worlds into a brilliant tapestry, charting a voyage across the ages into the maze of the human heart.

5 stories leading nowhere and ending no place.
Revisado: 07-02-21
The Maze at Windermere is comprised of five separate storylines, taking place in 2011, 1896, 1863, 1788, and 1692, all set in Newport RI. The connections among the tales are place, history, and allegory, but the stories themselves are boring. Mostly just people being a-holes to other people (with the exception of Prudence's set in 1692), one in particular is disturbing to the point of being sociopathic.

Gentle, amusing, bittersweet fable.
Revisado: 06-01-21
A short whimsical fairy tale from Tolkien - the last book he ever published - that reads as a sort of denouement to his illustrious, long career. Bittersweet and gentle, at times amusing.

Historia
When a tremendous spacecraft takes orbit around Earth's moon and begins sending smaller landers down toward the North Pole, the newly arrived visitors quickly set up a permanent spaceport in Siberia. Their presence attracts many, including Rick Schumann, who establishes a tavern catering to all the various species of visiting aliens, a place he calls the Draco Tavern. From the mind of best-selling author Larry Niven come 27 tales and vignettes from this interstellar gathering place.

Enjoyable collection of actual sci-fi stories.
Revisado: 02-20-20
What sci-fi is supposed to be: story driven, interesting concepts, unique aliens, no personal agenda. Niven had fun writing these stories, which translates into fun listening for me.
