not as good as the film, but close

Jaws has been my favorite film for years. I have probably watched it 50 times. It recently dawned on me that I had never read the novel. The narrator did an amazing job, one of the top performances I have ever heard in an audio book. It is well written and kept me interested and invested throughout. I was hoping for more back story on Quint, but their was little. The situation with Ellen only added to the tension. Could have done without the mafia bits. That seemed like a little much. Overall, I highly recommend.

I couldn't do it anymore

The story was intriguing and in parts interesting, but I will never know the conclusion or even the point because I couldn't listen to that voice for one more second. The best way I can describe it is Big Bird doing a poor Quentin Tarantino impersonation. Seriously ill-advised carney cultural appropriation. my advice is to read the book.... that monthly credit is gone with the wind.

best war book of all time

This is an amazing piece of work. As a former infantry Marine, combat veteran, and history teacher, I have spent many hours reading history, especially that of my beloved corp. This work stands above the rest. It is so gritty, powerful, surreal, and emotional that I may never fully proccess the words. It plays like a movie in your head and could potentially change your life. In the words of Dick Winters "Eugene Sledge is a legend" The performance is also excellent.

Does Bullwinkle have a squawky voice? Why do kids in Indiana have a southern accent? So many questions?

Two of the three readers were outstanding. Marin Ireland's performance was average. The story was in my opinion one of the best of all time.

I see several reviews complaining about the reader. I thought he did an excellent job with it and nailed most of the characters. The story was one of King's best. I enjoy the supernatural and I few times I thought it was going to go in that direction but was glad that it didn't, for this story I didn't think it would have worked. My only complaint was that there were multiple errors in the depictions of Marines and their training. I often wonder what type of reasearch is done on these things or even if an accurate depiction is the goal but it definitely could have be realistic and not detracted at all from the story. All in all I enjoyed it and was sad when it was over.

Beware! One of these four stories stars Holly Gibony. The other three are excellent. Am I the only King fan that loathes her?

really enjoyed franco, great book

This is one of the greatest works of the 20th century. It is just as true today as it was in 1969. Franco does an amazing job with the reading. I really enjoyed his rendition of this timeless classic that finds horror and humor going hand in hand to some of humanity's darkest corners.

The narrator was great. I recommend that if you don't have a rudimentary understanding of Spanish that you have a Spanish to English reference tool available.
