Historia
In this fascinating account, Ann Rule delivers a tour de force: a whirlwind of misguided love, denial, guilt, and passions out of control; a series of brilliantly manipulated crimes; the bizarre and horrifying tale of two families brought to ruin; and, at the center of it all, the heartless, supremely selfish sociopath whose evil hid behind soft words and gentle manners, but who destroyed—without mercy—those who loved her.

This is the stupidest family ever. My mom was put in jail for poisoning people. I was in perfect health until she started taking care of me. I’ve never had the flu so bad that my feet stopped working! Also, my doctor is stupid because I told him my arms and feet stopped working and he also told me I had the flu.

I know that everybody thinks the sociopathic killers are crazy and they are, but what we forget about is that there is a conspiracy of silence in everybody around them. The conspiracy of silence is more powerful than anything two individuals can do. Fritz’s mother should be put into jail. Her passivity and compliance is criminal. She us still defending Fritz even after everything.

Historia
In the autumn of 1558, church bells across England ring out the joyous news that Elizabeth I is the new queen, yet one woman hears the tidings with utter dread. She is Amy Dudley, wife of Sir Robert, and she knows Elizabeth’s ambitious leap to the throne will draw her husband back to the center of the glamorous Tudor court, where he was born to be. Elizabeth has inherited a bankrupt country where treason is rampant and foreign war a certainty. Her advisors warn her that she will survive only if she marries a strong prince to govern the rebellious country. She desires Robert Dudley.

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Historia
A coming-of-age tale for the young and naïve 17-year-old Catherine Morland, Northanger Abbey takes a decidedly comical look at themes of class, family, love and literature. Revelling in the sensationalist - and extremely popular - Gothic fiction of her day, the story follows Catherine out of Bath to the lofty manor of the Tilneys, where her overactive imagination gets to work constructing an absurd and melodramatic explanation for the death of Mrs Tilney, which threatens to jeopardise her newly forged friendships.

The end of Communism and breakup of the Soviet Union was a time of euphoria around the world, but Russia today is violently anti-American and dangerously nationalistic. So how did we go from the promise of those days to the autocratic police state of Putin's new Russia? The Invention of Russia reaches back to the darkest days of the Cold War to tell the story of the fight for the soul of a nation.

Hopeless and Hopeful
Revisado: 04-25-17
Would you listen to Dreamland again? Why?
Yes. Lots of content. I tend to like Investigative Journalism. This one was not only mind-blowing in the detail, but also in the pathos and the lack of cynicism.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The Author. He keeps ethics at the forefront without being preachy.
Which scene was your favorite?
Seven Days March with the rainbow. Also, scenes of Ernesto returning to his village in triumph.
If you could give Dreamland a new subtitle, what would it be?
Perfect Subtitle already.
Any additional comments?
I wish I were an investigative journalist.

The Nazis presented themselves as warriors against moral degeneracy. Yet, as Norman Ohler's gripping best seller reveals, the entire Third Reich was permeated with drugs: cocaine, heroin, morphine and, most of all, methamphetamines, or crystal meth, used by everyone from factory workers to housewives, and crucial to troops; resilience - even partly explaining German victory in 1940.
