Historia
We are in the midst of a global mental health crisis, and mental illnesses are on the rise. But what causes mental illness? And why are mental health problems so hard to treat? Drawing on decades of research, Harvard psychiatrist Dr. Chris Palmer outlines a revolutionary new understanding that for the first time unites our existing knowledge about mental illness within a single framework: mental disorders are metabolic disorders of the brain. Brain Energy will transform the field of mental health, and the lives of countless people around the world.

Impressive but never gets to the point
Revisado: 05-12-23
I believe that the metabolic treatment for that he’s trying to get around to is the ketogenic diet. Which is quite difficult to do. But then he never says to do it. He cries to us in the last chapter to make the change -make it all happen better now. But he doesn’t say how

Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

I liked the story
Revisado: 04-03-23
A pretty good book. I really don’t enjoy the narrators voice. I miss a lot of the words for some reason when she speaks. I seem to listen to a lot of books that the same narrator does. The story was filled with twists and turns and was well done .

Very worthwhile if you like to laugh and cry
Revisado: 02-28-23
Thank you to this book for renewing my trust that there are good books left out there that I have not read. I got to laugh and cry so many times. The narration was perfect and I could VisualEyes Beach scene. As a nurse I don’t know how the timeline could be in a modern hospital but it doesn’t matter if it is possible.

Disturbingly compelling
Revisado: 09-30-22
I could relate to the story because I am a nurse and was a foster parent. A great story somehow made more real because it happened in Australia. I skipped five or more chapters in the middle because it was getting a little too gory and crudeBut I thought the author did a great job and the narration was very good

Historia
The year is 1348. Thomas, a disgraced knight, has found a young girl alone in a dead Norman village. An orphan of the Black Death, and an almost unnerving picture of innocence, she tells Thomas that plague is only part of a larger cataclysm - that the fallen angels under Lucifer are rising in a second war on heaven, and that the world of men has fallen behind the lines of conflict. Is it delirium or is it faith? She believes she has seen the angels of God. She believes the righteous dead speak to her in dreams. And now she has convinced the faithless Thomas to shepherd her across a depraved landscape to Avignon.

An amazing love story that kept me going to the end. After a while I thought —“ Is this for young adults”? But even if it was ,even I, at age 70 still liked it. Quite deep , overly romantic, But so heartwarming!

I recommend this book to people who are looking for something different. It is quite dark but always has hope in it. A very long book to listen to and I did skip a few chapters but loved all the twists and turns.
