I Can’t..!

I do NOT understand the high ratings for this awful schlock; (I’m sorry Ms. Davids) but I don’t know what’s worse; the fake “tough dyke”voice that the narrator uses, or the lame, squeaky Cassie caricature. I find both of these voices and the limping story to be insulting and grating; I gritted my teeth through three chapters, but I’m done!
Wish I could get a refund of this wasted credit…

How Does the Show Compare..?

Wow, this was quite a piece of realistic fiction! I had heard of the (series?) on Hulu, but hadn’t seen it, now I’m not sure whether I want to; what will he missing or changed?
There are many layers to this story; a well-meaning, wealthy “liberal” community, living in an intentionally constructed “safe” bubble, and the minor and major ripples threatening this falsely safe haven among the inhabitants and their secrets and struggles.
The story takes place in the 90’s, and some of the references and events are very disconcerting, especially in light of today’s socio-political climate.
The reading and accents are performed with excellence. I wanted more answers at the end, but overall this was very well done!

Can’t get past the narration..

I was very much interested in this story, having seen the movie preview, but truthfully, I’m finding the narrator’s voice and cadences to be jarring and distracting. I will have to pick up a paperback copy instead.
