Historia
Weirdly, people don’t react overly well when you’re caught standing over the dead body of a murderer who’d walked free. It’s not that I thought my fellow homicide detective would rejoice when he saw what I’d done, but is a pat on the back too much to ask for? Maybe a gold star at the very least? The problem is that the person who caught me is Gabriel, the only person I care for and adore… and he’s prepared to look the other way if I leave homicide and promise to never kill again.

AW is not a one hit wonder!
Revisado: 03-22-25
Can’t wait for the arrival of the next book in the series to be released in Audible. AW is gifted with her mix of MM dramatic/comedic characters. In this series, detectives Liam and Gabriel are a perfect blend of paradoxical personalities. Liam, a serial avenger who hates all humans with only one exception. Gabriel, the childlike adult detective in the room struggles with the world as he believes it should be, plays by the rules, and one of the few on the force who can who tolerate Liam.
AW weaves her story beautifully around the two main characters. Voice narrator, Greg Boudreaux is first and foremost…a great actor. Winters/Boudreaux = great story + great story teller.

Didn’t realize I had listened to this before. I’m sure I liked it on the first go round but this renewed look…blew me away. Amazing story telling and story.
When Kurt Graves is narrating I’m gonna listen. There are a few narrators who are professional actors of considerable career notoriety. Ed Reed comes to mind and a few others. Kurt Graves, though not an actor, clearly knows how to act. Brilliant performance by Kurt.

You’re My Home says Zach to Brady
Revisado: 07-27-24
I get a little self conscious when trying to review something as well written as you’re my home. There was not
One wasted word in the story in which two young kids, Zach, from a horribly cold and abusive home and Brady, the brave and sensitive football star who vows to protect and “ love” his best buddy forever. Zach is gay, Brady is not…but it doesn’t stop him from loving him and keeping him out of harms way. The accompanying cast of characters, along with a few villainous types make “you’re my home” something I will never forget.

Historia
In 2018, Colton Haynes woke up in a hospital. He’d had two seizures, lost vision in one eye, almost ruptured a kidney, and been put on an involuntary psychiatric hold. Not yet thirty, he knew he had to take stock of his life and make some serious changes if he wanted to see his next birthday. As he worked towards sobriety, Haynes allowed himself to become vulnerable for the first time and discovered profound self-awareness. He had millions of social media followers who constantly told him they loved him.

I feel your pain
Revisado: 02-16-24
Said…Bill Clinton. I don’t know if that was true, that he actually felt our pain. Doesn’t so much matter. I did feel Colton’s pain, and his confusion and desperate need to feel liked or loved. I also felt awkwardly uncomfortable when Colton shared all of the details of
his sexual journeys including the side trips that a less brave writer might take a pass on. It reminded me of David Sedaris last book in which he too was completely confessional about his family introspections with a father who was boorishly sexually over preoccupied with his daughters.
Colton is as raw and emotionally vulnerable about his chaotic sexualization from early childhood on when he is prematurely sexualized by male relatives and acquaintances which is all made so easy because of his stunning good looks. I’m so impressed with the brutal honesty and self revelations that authors like Colton Haynes and David Sedaris so similarly
Venture into. For a young man struggling to reveal his truer-sensitive self, I’d say that he’s well on the way when he lets his inside voice come out.
I think that the puzzling parts of his search for identity must be more clear to him now as he can add “author”
along with actor and a son ,who was very much loved by his mother as he is also loved by his great collection of friends. Keep up the good work, Colton. You’re a star in more than one way.

I'd been waiting my whole life to run. When I uncovered hidden papers detailing my inheritance, I knew my time had come. I packed my trunk full of plant babies, black nail polish, and determination. With my demons in the rearview mirror and my trauma for company, I made my way to Elmwood. The remote Maine mountain town is home to my future, a potential love interest, and a lot of really weird, possibly deadly secrets.

And Now, on to Book # 2 Spooky Boys
Revisado: 12-31-23
I’ve listened to hundreds of audible books and this title jumps into my top 5 for “Best writing and character development” …best narrative acting ( two narrators) …best story line…best keep you on the edge of your seat right to the very end…most original non- formulaic, non- predictable plot lines…
most skillful, masterful, thematic intertwining of the main characters effort to escape from traumatic childhood abuse and the fantastical mix of “other worldly” supporting cast of characters that include a rescue cat, and vampiric families and family leaders who abide by a communal code of ethics, so to speak.
Wonderful book that is a “ must read/must listen” 5 star reviewed delight. Trust the reviews.

The Story Line
Revisado: 12-17-23
In the opening pages, the young “ Nicho”, the main character, is identified as the young son who is predisposed for an innate telling of the truth. To his teacher who asks a question from the previous nights reading assignment…”I don’t know the answer because I didn’t do the reading”…is his unfiltered answer. Nicho is known by everyone to be the boy who never lies and always tells the truth; that is his reputation. When the Nazis invade Greece and occupy the town with the highest concentration of Jews (his town), they have a job for young Nicho that forever changes his life. I loved the Agatha Christy-like layers to this book. Only the horror is predictable, the story line is not.
