Historia
At first glance Gabriel Cardona is the poster-boy American teenager: great athlete, bright, handsome, and charismatic. But the streets of his border town of Laredo, Texas, are poor and dangerous, and it isn't long before Gabriel abandons his promising future for the allure of the Zetas, a drug cartel with roots in the Mexican military. His younger friend, Bart, as well as others from Gabriel's childhood join him in working for the Zetas, boosting cars and smuggling drugs, eventually catching the eye of the cartel's leadership.

A good book, enjoyed the narration. Nothing is that shocking or any revelations occur that would surprise you if you have read other narco books. Worth the purchase though at the end of the day

Historia
When he first met the man who called himself David Koresh, David Thibodeau was a drummer in a local a rock band. Though he had never been religious in the slightest, Thibodeau gradually became a follower and moved to the Branch Davidian compound in Waco. He remained there until April 19, 1993, when the compound was stormed and burned to the ground after a 51-day standoff with government authorities. In this compelling account - now with an updated epilogue that revisits remaining survivors - Thibodeau explores why so many people came to believe that Koresh was divinely inspired.

A story every American should listen too. Koresh needed to be arrested but it should never have gone down like that.

Historia
For most of us, traveling means visiting the most beautiful places on Earth - Paris, the Taj Mahal, the Grand Canyon. It’s rare to book a plane ticket to visit the lifeless moonscape of Canada’s oil sand strip mines, or to seek out the Chinese city of Linfen, legendary as the most polluted in the world. But in Visit Sunny Chernobyl, Andrew Blackwell embraces a different kind of travel, taking a jaunt through the most gruesomely polluted places on Earth.

Historia
America’s largest city generates garbage in torrents - 11,000 tons a day on average. But New Yorkers don’t give it much attention. They leave their trash on the curb or drop it in a litter basket, and promptly forget about it. And why not? On a schedule so regular you could almost set your watch by it, someone always comes to take it away.
But who, exactly, is that someone? And why is he - or she - so unknown?

Seemed interesting
Revisado: 06-11-13
What did you like best about Picking Up? What did you like least?
It seemed like an interesting topic as I knew nothing about how sanitation operates. However, it turned out to be a snoozer. IMO, it went into too much history of sanitation for my taste.
What three words best describe Mary Kane’s voice?
No problem with the narration
Did Picking Up inspire you to do anything?
man up and finish the book
