Historia
Terrorists have acquired a terrible new weapon that can crash the power grid and plunge America into a new dark age. A coordinated attack is planned to shut out all lights and emergency services to 10 major cities. Planes will fall, hospitals will go dark, no help will come. And in that terrible darkness, a dreadful plague will be released. If the lights go off, nothing can stop the bioweapon from killing millions. At the same time, the intelligence services are being torn apart from within by a plague of betrayal, murder, and suicide.

Tekka lee, lee?
Revisado: 05-12-16
Would you listen to Kill Switch again? Why?
I never re-listen or re-read books, but I might have to this time. There were so many things that went unexplained. For instance, don't expect to come away knowing what the haunting, memorable exhortation "Tekka lee, lee" means. Either I fell asleep while listening and missed the explanation, or it was omitted.
What did you like best about this story?
Even so, I still enjoyed spending a few days with Joe Leger, one of my favorite action heroes. His strength and irreverent attitude give me hope and make me laugh all at once.
What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
This man can act and I don't ever need to see his facial expressions or body language to understand exactly the emotions and thoughts he's conveying. The voices he uses for each character are so spot on and consistent from book to book that I know who's talking even before the book verbalizes it. Ray Porter makes the experience!

Historia
John Hart creates a literary thriller that is as suspenseful as it is poignant, a riveting murder mystery layered beneath the southern drawl of a humble North Carolina lawyer. When Work Pickens finds his father murdered, the investigation pushes a repressed family history to the surface and he sees his own carefully constructed facade begin to crack.

Too many words
Revisado: 05-02-16
Nice effort but author tries too hard to be literate, choosing seven three-syllable words when three two-syllable words will do. Narrator sounds like he's reading a book aloud. ... Hmmm. I guess he actually is, but it's more monotonous than it should be.

Fantastic performance, good book
Revisado: 03-07-16
Male/female, old/young, Cajun/Yankee, black/white ... narrator could do it all! Lots of interesting characters to voice but a few too many red herrings for the story. Kept me guessing for sure -- sometimes frustratingly so, though. However, I highly recommend.

Looking to earn your binge-reading badge? Pick this up. You won't be able to put it down. Great premise. Love how the details are dribbled out using two viewpoints and two voices. I can often figure out who done what before I'm halfway through, but not this time.

Historia
Across the country women are being murdered by a killer who leaves no evidence, no fatal wounds, no signs of struggle, and no clues to a motive. They are, truly, perfect crimes. In fact, the only thing that links the victims is the man they all knew: Jack Reacher.

Figured it out one-quarter the way in
Revisado: 02-12-14
What disappointed you about Running Blind?
Not believable. Obvious outcome. Stereotypical characters. Lots of plot filler. And Jack wasn't very appealing, doing and saying things that seemed not his style.
What was most disappointing about Lee Child’s story?
Jack finally figured it out but then the author seemed to drag out the telling to fill a few more pages.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Yes. Narration was fine, although it wasn't the reader we're used to for Jack.
What character would you cut from Running Blind?
Just about any of the stupid FBI agents.

Historia
LAPD cop Scott James is not doing so well, not since a shocking nighttime assault by unidentified men killed his partner, Stephanie, nearly killed him, and left him enraged, ashamed, and ready to explode. He is unfit for duty - until he meets his new partner. Maggie is not doing so well, either. The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s. They are each other’s last chance.

Dogs, cops and suspense. How can you go wrong?
Revisado: 09-04-13
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I couldn't wait for my next listening session. The plot was helped along by the occasional switches in perspective from the main character, to the dog, to others.
Which character – as performed by MacLeod Andrews – was your favorite?
Loved them all! Especially when the big, gruff cops and soldiers would talk to their dogs in the dogs' language. Maggie's voice also helped me believe I was hearing exactly what that girl was thinking.

Historia
On the day she was abducted, Annie O’Sullivan, a 32-year-old Realtor, had three goals: sell a house, forget about a recent argument with her mother, and be on time for dinner with her ever-patient boyfriend. The open house is slow, but when her last visitor pulls up in a van as she’s about to leave, Annie thinks it just might be her lucky day after all.

Could not put down my headphones!!!
Revisado: 09-04-13
What did you love best about Still Missing?
The unique storytelling device of presenting the main character's one-sided conversation with her "shrink" drives this book.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved following Annie's thought processes as she dealt with her life after her abduction while also slowly drawing out the details of the experience. I admired her honesty and self-awareness.
Which character – as performed by Angela Dawe – was your favorite?
Annie's voice was perfect. The pacing was just right for every circumstance. You could totally feel her every emotion from fear to defiance, confusion to sadness, anger to optimism.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
This book moved me to tears several times, but I can't share the details without giving away plot points.
Any additional comments?
I don't give out five stars easily; this book deserves every one for both the story and narration. I'll definitely be looking for this author and narrator in the future.

Historia
Who am I? My name is Christy Snow. I'm 17 and I'm about to die. I'm buried in a coffin under tons of concrete. No one knows where I am. My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me. I'm lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. My hands and feet won't stop shaking. Some will say that I'm not really here. Some will say I'm delusional. Some will say that I don t even exist. But who are they? I'm the one buried in a grave.

What disappointed you about Eyes Wide Open?
If you like books that make no sense and take forever to explain themselves, this one is for you. I think I picked it out of the wrong section, or maybe it was filed wrong. It belongs in sci fi or fantasy. So if that's your thing...

Well written, performed and produced!
Revisado: 08-04-13
Would you listen to Inferno again? Why?
No, I just never re-read or re-listen to books. But if I did, this would be a good one. The interesting history alone would make it worth it. And the performance had so many nuances that it would almost seem new.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
It definitely kept me interested and surprised! But "edge of my seat"? I don't tink that's possible with the book's pacing and educational elements.
Which character – as performed by Paul Michael – was your favorite?
There were so many intersting voices that that's hard to say. He did a great job distinguishing between the various accents -- Italian, French, German; between men and women; and even secondary characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was no comedy, but I definitely laughed out loud a few times.
Any additional comments?
Have heard all the hype, but this was my first Dan Brown book. I wasn't disappointed.

Naration ALMOST spoils good story
Revisado: 08-04-13
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Narrator's inexperience is obvious. Many times it's like she's reading a line for the first time, so it doesn't come out with the right emphasis. Even worse, though, are the attempts at speaking each character with different tones and accents. I muddled through the breathy mother and too-deep male voices only because the story kept me intersted.
What did you like best about this story?
The main character and her relationship with the accused.
Would you be willing to try another one of Tara Platt’s performances?
No.
Do you think Hostile Witness needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I liked the main character and might read another book about her.
