Historia
The celebrated 2010 HBO miniseries The Pacific, winner of eight Emmy Awards, was based on two classic books about the War in the Pacific, Helmet for My Pillow and With The Old Breed. Audible Studios, in partnership with Playtone, the production company co-owned by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, and creator of the award-winning HBO series Band of Brothers, John Adams, and The Pacific, as well as the HBO movie Game Change, has created new recordings of these memoirs, narrated by the stars of the miniseries.

My Favorite of all WW2 Books
Revisado: 01-31-16
I like to read about war and about the men who have served our country. Leckie was a master of choosing the right word. In his narrative you feel like you are walking right beside him. James Badge Dale does a marvelous job in narrating the story.

Historia
James A. Warren's battle-driven history shows how this elite culture has produced the best warriors in the country, through six decades, several open wars, and many smaller interventions. From their heroic performance in the Pacific War, against Japanese troops on god-forsaken islands, to their "tip-of-the-lance" leadership in key operations in the two Gulf Wars, the Marines have proven again and again that elite men with elite training are worth entire armies.

A Must Read For TR Fans
Revisado: 11-26-11
Theodore Roosevelt was a man's man. If there ever was a true Renaisance Man after the fact it is TR. If you enjoy Lewis and Clark and Henry M Stanley then you will truly enjoy this real life adventure. Edmund Morris certainly gives longer and more detailed accounts about the life of this great man, but The River Of Doubt deals with an event that is largely unknown because it happened during the Great War and everyone's eyes remained fixed on the fate of Europe. I was disappointed with the details on the Rain Forest and the evolutionary description. This took away form the historicity of the story and did not seem to fit. The story stalled in its effect during these often unfortanate diversions into poor Science.

In Washington: A Life celebrated biographer Ron Chernow provides a richly nuanced portrait of the father of our nation. This crisply paced narrative carries the reader through his troubled boyhood, his precocious feats in the French and Indian War, his creation of Mount Vernon, his heroic exploits with the Continental Army, his presiding over the Constitutional Convention, and his magnificent performance as America's first president.

A must for those who want to know more about the "Father of our country." The narrative is lengthy, but very well researched and the narrator does an exemplary job.

Historia
In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson selected his personal secretary, Captain Meriwether Lewis, to lead a voyage up the Missouri River, across the forbidding Rockies, and - by way of the Snake and the Columbia rivers - down to the Pacific Ocean. Lewis and his partner, Captain William Clark, endured incredible hardships and witnessed astounding sights. With great perseverance, they worked their way into an unexplored West. When they returned two years later, they had long since been given up for dead.

Great Choice
Revisado: 09-08-11
This is a very good book to read and is pretty good to listen to. Ambrose often uses similar terms over again and this breaks the flow of the story when you are listening to it. I did not notice this when I read the book. Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery are truly heroic and this is a story everyone should read.

Joshua Chamberlain of Maine forged a remarkable career during the Civil War. An academic and theologian by training, this modest young professor left Bowdoin College to accept a commission as lieutenant colonel of the 20th Maine. He fought at Antietam and Fredericksburg, then led his regiment to glory at Gettysburg, where he ordered the brilliant charge that saved Little Round Top.

Excellent Choice For Civil War Buffs
Revisado: 09-08-11
Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain is one of the iconic figures of the American Civil War. Trulock brings to life the man that so many of us first learned about while watching the film Gettysburg. He truly had the "heart of a woman and the soul of a lion." This gentle General fought through many bloody battles, but always did so with the true courage and glory that was often sought for by others, but often never attained. If you are looking for a book about a humble hero, this is it. Excellent to read on the Kindle and listen to on Audible.com.
