Historia
Meticulous private investigator Stanley Melvin likes to keep his work grounded in reality, not at all like the classic detective novels he has read incessantly since childhood. But his best friend and annoying neighbor Rudy quickly points out that his routine "cheater" case is rapidly taking on all of the features that Stanley steadfastly insists are mere fictional tropes of the genre. Stanley isn't too sure how he feels about this. But as a professional, he forges ahead, despite getting out of his comfort zone.

Tangled moral terrain
Revisado: 12-09-23
Narration: I’m thankful to have speed control. It took a while to become accustomed to the narrators bass voice. However, that concern disappeared as he handled the characters well.
Story: so interesting. I found myself hoping it could be the start of a series. As always, Zafiro’s characters are the types of humans that you’re afraid to like. Good guys, that have been blued by the weather. Sometimes it turns out to be useful. Like, tarnished but beautiful. Sometimes the weather wins. The reader ends up rooting for the good/bad/good? guy hoping that they’ll end up on a comfortable side of morality. Don’t discount the book by the quality of the review. I’ll finish by saying, I’m going to listen to the next one right now….

Important content for leaders.
Revisado: 10-23-22
This content is relevant and important.
From a variety of perspectives. Do you work with humans? Are you a human?
I apply my learning about trauma, resilience, motivation, and communication to my practice. I learned a definition of "hope" that is measurable and confirmation that it is teachable. The teachable part important for organizations and souls who need hope.

A retired cop's next steps
Revisado: 06-25-22
What legacy will we leave when we retire? Will our post-career life be more important than the job?
A good cop, driven by the victim's needs, retires to an aimless, quiet life. A phone call offers an opportunity to invigorate his legacy.
This narrator does an excellent job of delivering the story and emotions of the characters.
The author always let's us remember dark motivations of some powerful people. The story reminds us that authority is different from power. And that children don't have to follow the path of their parents. Yet, troubled parents leave their children no path to follow.
While Ithere was a natural momentum, and a hope to pull us through the narrative, I wish the main character was less mediocre. Perhaps in the next installment, he leverages his new life to leave a stronger legacy.

This final story got me. The quote (paraphrased, here) "If you think this ends well, you haven't been paying attention." that wormed its way into my brain and smudged every line written after that. Well done.

Historia
Why do some products capture our attention, while others flop? What makes us engage with certain products out of habit? Is there a pattern underlying how technologies hook us? This audiobook introduces listeners to the "Hooked Model", a four-step process companies use to build customer habits. Through consecutive cycles through the hook, successful products reach their ultimate goal of bringing users back repeatedly - without depending on costly advertising or aggressive messaging.

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

thought provoking and pointed.
Revisado: 02-16-20
Reading this book is like going through boot camp. There are some harts parts, but once you are through, you will be more capable than you were when you started.
There were a few points where I had to go back to reread in order to follow the line of thinking, But that could be because the ideas laid forth are not customarily presented so they were laying new pathways to thinking about topics.
I found it interesting that every point I have ever thought or heard when people say, "I'm not a racist", every point was addressed. I also can now see that racism.. is not a 'bad' word'. Having a new perspective on it, make it easier to have frank conversations.

Seems like a novel for adolescents or youth. But, hold on, because the story draws adults in and entices them to listen until the end. At the least, you must listen to this with children to inspire them to remain curious. the character resourcfully uses the world of information available in libraries, smartphones and classic interviewing techniques to carry on her adventure.

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.
