Scott Meyer has never let me down. His books are great - humor, relatable characters, excellent story lines and much more. Are wonderful on Audible. Luke Daniels is one of the best readers I’ve heard. May be checking out some other authors just to hear him reading.
Thank you Scott, Luke and Audible.

I believe I would have found this book compelling if the choice had not been made to read the citations. They were jarring. Had a pdf of the citations been included for the curious, it would have sufficed for me. But that is my opinion and may not be so for others.

What made the experience of listening to Still Foolin' 'Em the most enjoyable?

I had to make myself keep going through the first 3 chapters. I'm not a fan of penis humor. But am glad I did. His stories are great and in places where it could come off as braggadocio it somehow falls just short of that and remains an enjoyable bio.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Still Foolin' 'Em?

More than one. Princess Bride and other Rob Reiner stories. His appreciation of family, friends and the talent of others.

Which character – as performed by Billy Crystal – was your favorite?

Mohammed Ali

Would you ever listen to anything by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg again?

No. Had great hope for these authors but no.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Show, flat or weird inflection. Got .05% better as continued but just - weird. Struggled to listen. Trying to finish but like pulling teeth or fingernails on blackboard.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Could have been so much better with a little humor and losing some of drag in the start. Took forever to set up relationship. Opportunity lost in Greece - too much snark, not enough humor. Just heard comparison to Silence of Lambs - best lines.

Any additional comments?

So disappointed. If try another - doubtful - will read book to see if that helps.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Include information on some of the exciting adventures mentioned in blurb. Not reflected in the book.

Would you ever listen to anything by Jennet Conant again?

Probably not

Which scene was your favorite?

None really.

Did The Irregulars inspire you to do anything?

Try to find a better book on the subject.

Any additional comments?

Very disappointed. Was looking forward to hearing this book.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Organization of materials. Would have benefited from a more linear timeline. See additional comments.

Which scene was your favorite?

None

Did The Madness of Mary Lincoln inspire you to do anything?

Perhaps to find a better book about Mary Todd Lincoln.

Any additional comments?

Promised 'new' information was limited and not worth the purchase. A short paper describing the finding of the letters and a short overview would have sufficed. Did not support a whole book. The last 15 minutes offered more information than balance of book. Was only stubbornness kept me listening.

Overall very disappointing book on a woman about which I hoped to learn so much more.

Narrator: should not have tried to soften voice for women. All were the same voice and was very distracting.

What didn???t you like about Patrick Lawlor???s performance?

I thought at first I had downloaded a young adult or younger book. Lawlor sounded like he was reading to children. His tone was patronizing at best, ineffective at least. Perhaps he was trying to set the pitch to his estimation of author's own voice. Made it hard to stick with the book.

Was iWoz worth the listening time?

For the most part.

Any additional comments?

I agree with other reviewers - Woz has an ego the size of Alaska, and some of the extended/protracted descriptions of technology were out of my field of interest. His penchant for pranks and particularly the lengthy description of the remote control prank wore thin. But there was still enough I liked learning to justify the credit. Would have been much easier with a different narrator, though.

Reader poor on this one

I really wanted to enjoy this book, but had a very hard time getting into it and gave up after an hour or so. Realized that I would have preferred a male reader - more appropriate to the text - and one with more enthusiasm about the project. Will probably give it another chance, because I really wanted to like the book. Also didn't realize was abridged. Like the previous reviewer, I prefer the whole book.

Cat lovers may wish to avoid

Total

Revisado: 04-19-04

Because of the authors included in this book, particularly Sharon McCrumb and Joan Hess, I was eager to listen. And several of the stories did not let me down. However, for anyone who has cats in their family, as I do, may wish to avoid this book. At least three of the stories involved death of cats and one deals with the theft of cats and their ultimate sale to vivisection/cosmetic laboratories with such detailed descriptions I couldn't listen to much of the story. Having skipped ahead, I did find a redeeming ending to the story, however sad, but this selection and others certainly cooled me to the book overall.
