Overall it was good! not great, but good. I'd recommend it to most cultivation style books enjoyers. It doesn't get too hentai like some books do, though this one did have a rather odd interaction. which I'll get into in a moment. trying to be spoiler free, it's a good unique story with a unique magic system and such.
now for the spoilers. I do not understand what was up with that girl in the beginning and best I understand she was forgotten. maybe it was the fox so okay I could see that but in that case I'd thought it would've taken down the path of falling in love with the fox. would've been an interesting dynamic, but instead it just kinda vanishes. like some other topics in this book in particular, it felt so rushed. there were a bunch of repeats of things, like I swear he repeated some thing or another a dozen times throughout the book which was a bit annoying. also the magic system seemed at first to be really unique and thought out, but we never really got further into it. this book treats magic like spell levels in DnD vs the in world reality it was. Sure there was some flavor text but we are literally going into a layer and we can't expand why this did this or that?
perhaps this isn't the last book in the series, which is fine. it felt rushed but a decent send off if it were. I felt like it could've been better, but again it was good so I won't complain too much.

I liked it, can't wait for the next one!
Revisado: 03-08-24
Overall I liked it, not sure why so many people thus far seemed to not like it. I love the, gay? Errr different relationship blooming, and the very intriguing setting of this world. Admittedly the spolier-personified entitiy-end spoiler, felt eh, though that ending was top notch. I worry that the magic system the artist is developing is becoming too much, and hopes it doesn't get either too confusing or too inrealistic for the setting, but overall it seems reasonable. Also maybe I missed it but there seemed to be nothing about the gods in this book which is slightly annoying... Lot happened though, so overall I'm pretty happy. I don't think they act as children per se, as I read in a comment but more a tight not group with diverse history. It's probably how I would've wrote them as well. Tbh, the only glaring thing is the weird slime stuff... Please keep up the hard work though! Can't wait for the next one!

Historia
I was the Ashlord—a primordial, an apex predator amongst beasts, commanding legions. I fell, despite my power, although not due to the strength of my enemies...but the betrayal of my own kind. A voice whispered to me as I lay dying on the cold ground, promising rebirth and revenge. Accepting his offer, I fell into a timeless sleep. I awaken to the cold and crushing dark of a forgotten grave and discover that I have changed. No longer a primordial force of nature, I now inhabit the body of a once immortal cultivator, the very same one that tried to claim my core as I lay dying.

I just can't care about her...
Revisado: 01-06-23
The premise of this book had me stary eyed. I'm a sucker for books about god's falling or having to pretend to be a mortal. This book fit right in that niche and I was entranced. The first 20% was great, loved it. Lots of lore and passion, could it have been better? Sure, I feel like it was a bit rushed, and that if this was to turn into a series that book 1 could've been more about the process of the fall and etc.
Anyways, rambling. This book was great, until... Seriously... A whore house. I just can't imagine a being of that nature, with the echos of knowledge of a human and the wisdom of a wannabe dragon would go there of all places. Fall in love with he first female he sees, and only for her to go from bad ass looking woman to being the normal fantasy trope heroine in distress. It just ruined it for me tbh. I tried to keep reading but I just can't unfortunately.
Also, wouldn't a dragon want to horde knowledge? This one seems to be eager to explain...
I can't continue with this one, but I won't return the book, as I want to support this genre

Still needs work
Revisado: 09-16-22
Still can't understand why no one can get along. Everyone hates everyone. Also the BS about there always being poverty is BS. Such an old leader would know that. Lastly you keep explaining things over and over, and makes me disconnect from the story due to just getting bored listening to 30 min of something we already knew from a previous book.
I will say I'm glad to see a potentially powerful female that isn't swooning for him. That was getting annoying...

Why so much filler and Shortened Good Parts?!
Revisado: 09-14-22
this series has been incredible, and I can't wait for the next one. But I feel this book had so much filler in it. Explaining the obvious while the actual meat and potatoes was so undercooked I'm surprised Gordon Ramsay isn't here telling you it's raw.
I just feel so disappointed. This was supposed to be so emotional, and it was to a point but those parts were so limited and almost, like Jason does, brushed off for the silly mask. Leaving the book feeling so hollow afterwards. I've felt this before in one of the other books, the one where he punches Dawn in the face for no reason. Just take some time to care for the story instead of rushing false humor and filler scenes into it. You're a great writer with the perfect Narrator!

Historia
When Jiang Yao first encountered Luo Xiao, the young boy resembled a piece of white paper; he was pure and untainted by the greed and despair of the outside world. Even so, the demon was moving forward, little by little and introducing various colors to this unblemished blank piece of paper, and slowly it turned into the most vivid and breathtaking painting. Luo Xiao's path takes him on a journey across the continent with the purpose of tempering himself through bloodshed and battle.

We know...
Revisado: 09-08-22
I've liked all of the books so far. But there were a few criticisms that really hold this series back.
The primary one, and perhaps the most glaring, is that the same thing is repeated over and over again. I'm fully aware of the 7th prince's situation, I understand that the young lover grew up held back, and so forth. I really don't need to be reminded every few sentences.
secondary, is that there are some inconsistencies. It was said that with all the herbs the 7th prince had obtained, he'd be more powerful than the demon emperor. Yet after taking them, he is still considered weak. Also, if the Emperor knew of his son's love for the young lover, why would he be against it. There is a number of inconsistencies that just keep nagging at you as you read.
Third, and this is more for the narrator. Please stop stopping in the middle of a sentence. I do enjoy your voice as it fits the story quite nicely, but you keep just stopping at times. Plus your mic audio changes randomly which can be a bit unusual. You've also read sentences twice a couple of times. Still, I like your work. These are meant to be constructive and not demeaning in any way.
My last one was at the very end. Why was there seemingly two pages per chapter at the end? It made me very confused because you'd just be talking, stop half way in the moment to start a new chapter before picking it back up. The names of the chapters also spoiled it at times leaving no suspense for what's to come.
TlDr; I really like the series and glad I kept listening. There is definitely some work that needs to be done but the overall world building is great. I love the fact it's a gay relationship as I've been a dying man in a desert for one in a fantasy, not to mention cultivation, genre. I'm eager to see how things continue!

Really wish it was two books.
Revisado: 04-21-22
TlDr; I really like this story. The plot, the setting, and the Narrator is perfect! But, I like cultivation, and I like over powered characters. Especially ones that learn about their power and the truths behind it. Zach's... his story is good, and I'm sure there are readers that prefer his, but I'm just not one of those unfortunately.
The long part;
So I really like this book series. It's a shame it takes so much time before the next one comes out as I couldn't wait for this one after reading the first one.
The world is quite unique and I can really see it making sense in this reality and so do the abilities. I love the personalities of the characters, including both protagonists.
I'm a huge fan of OverPowered characters that learn and grow. How they see the world differently than others and Ryuin especially because he has to sit and try to temper his arrogance at times.
Zack has his own things, though I do wander. He seems smart, and I'm sure there'll be this whole blind hatred against Ryuin but I'm really interested to see what he makes out of this new person that Ryuin has become.
The But;
As i mentioned, I like over powered characters. I'm not a huge fan of the norm, and although Zack is perhaps more than the majority, he really doesn't hold a candle to Ryuin. This leaves me with kinda a meh feeling about him.
I really wish this was two stories from two perspectives in the same realm. Perhaps leaving clues in both books, which would then get me interested in reading both, because of wanting to listen to them, then being stuck on this up and down rollercoaster that it currently is.
I want to stress that I like Zack, but it's like looking at your lover, and then looking at a friend. One just doesn't do the same for you as the other one does.

Amazing! But I'm a bit obssessed with OP Character
Revisado: 03-03-21
So let me first state that I am addicted to overpowered main characters, so my views on this book are a bit focused on that side of things rather than the normies that look for grinding or tough situations.
This book is amazing! I absolutely love it and can't wait for the next one. Nick Podehl is one of the best voice actors I've ever heard and i'm well over 100+ books at this point. He really only adds to this books intrigue and makes the characters really come to life. Overall the main character is exactly how I'd like a OP character to be,
The only few things I could give as constructive criticism is the word "fuck" gets used so bloody often, I mean if your gonna cuss put some variety into it! Lastly there were times when I didn't know who was talking until the entire scene has finished and I was able to piece together who was who. So only some minor criticisms.
Honestly, can't wait for book 2. There is a book 2 right..?
