An amazing sort of rollercoaster with cats.
It gets stranger and gets better and weird and it’s something very unusual. I’d love a sequel or three.

But Shining is now something more than human. And the scrapyard is no longer just a scrapyard, but a place full of secrets. This life she has built, while empty, is predictable and safe. One of My All-Time Favorites
Revisado: 09-26-15
I love this book. It's fascinating and beautifully written. I think the characters are well-rounded and distinctive, and the action and storyline are top-notch and original. I've listened to it at least half a dozen times and liked it so much I also bought a hard copy, which is the opposite of my usual purchase sequence.
My copy of the audiobook is in the correct order (I purchased it in 2012.) If yours is out-of-sequence, call Audible support. I've had problems with certain books stuttering on my iPods and the support rep was able to help me straighten it out in very few minutes.

Historia
Tallulah Casey is ready to find her inner artist. And some new mates. And maybe a boy or two or three. The ticket to achieving these lofty goals? Enrolling in a summer performing arts program, of course. She’s bound for the wilds of Yorkshire Dales - eerily similar to the windswept moors of Wuthering Heights. Tallulah expects new friends, less parental interference, and lots of drama. Acting? Tights? Moors? Check, check, check. What she doesn’t expect is feeling like a tiny bat’s barging around in her mouth when she has her first snog.

I love these books! Funny and well-narrated.
Revisado: 10-10-14
These books are a ton of fun. I loved the Georgia Nicholson books and have enjoyed the audiobooks for years, but I have to say I love Talullah Casey even more. The stories are more interesting, since they incorporate the performing arts and all the entertainment value they have, as well as the Yorkshire people and countryside. There's a literary component to these books, as well, with Wuthering Heights and A Midsummer Night's Dream central to the stories in the first two books. Add all this to Louise Rennison's great characters and stories and you have very clever, satisfying teen fiction.
Louise Rennison is also a hilarious narrator. Her regional accents make me laugh out loud. She brings an extra dimension to the books that you can't get in print.
Now, the main problem for me is that you CANNOT GET BOOKS TWO AND THREE ON AUDIO IN THE U.S. What the heck, Harper-Collins? I was able to buy book two on CD from the UK, but book three is only available in digital download from Audible UK, and you can't order from them unless you have a UK credit card and billing address. PLEASE get these two for us in the US of A!

Resourceful, adventurous and utterly indefatigable, Sophy is hardly the mild-mannered girl that the Rivenhalls expect when they agree to take her in. Kind-hearted Aunt Lizzy is shocked; stern Cousin Charles and his humorless fiancée Eugenia are disapproving. With her inimitable mixture of exuberance and grace Sophy soon sets about endearing herself to her family, but finds herself increasingly drawn to her cousin. Can she really be falling in love with him, and he with her? And what of his betrothal to Eugenia?

An unfortunate choice of narrator.
Revisado: 10-01-14
What did you like best about The Grand Sophy? What did you like least?
This is one of my favorite of Ms. Heyer's romances with great characters and an interesting and different story. The romance plays out very slyly.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Sophy, of course. What a character! She's strong, funny, fashionable, kind and has a tiny bit of a temper.
How could the performance have been better?
The narration was quite good, except for one very large exception: the Spanish marquesa, who is a major character, has an Eastern European accent. This is amazingly distracting and unfortunate. The lady sounds like a character from Dracula.
Was The Grand Sophy worth the listening time?
I would be very, very happy with this audiobook if the narrator had been able to do a reasonable Spanish accent. If this doesn't bother you enough to ruin the experience, I recommend it highly.
Any additional comments?
There's a whole cast of interesting, well-drawn characters in this book. The plot is much better than the average romance, and repays attention.

There is a Discworld Novel Here!
Revisado: 08-07-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. If you like the Discworld Wizards books, this is a must-read.
Have you listened to any of Michael Fenton Stevens and Stephen Briggs ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I like Stephen Briggs's narrations very much. This is my first listen to Michael Fenton Stevens, and I do like his delivery. Lovely voice as well.
Any additional comments?
When I read my hard copy of this book, I read the alternate chapters because the novel and the science chapters alternate. If you want to read the novel without taking time for the science in the middle of the story, start with Chapter One and continue with the odd-numbered ones. The audiobook is divided by chapter, which makes it very easy to skip one and proceed to the next part of the story.
For those of you who like to read the story arcs in order, this one comes after The Last Continent.
I am so glad they have released this, and I hope very much to see the next three science books sometime soon.

He had nothing to recommend him but his smile, and she was surely too old, and had too much commonsense, to be beguiled by a smile... Miss Abigail Wendover's efforts to detach her spirited niece Fanny from a plausible fortune-hunter are complicated by the arrival in Bath of Miles Caverleigh. The black sheep of his family, a cynical, outrageous care-for-naught with a scandalous past - that would be a connection more shocking even than Fanny's unwise liaison with his nephew!

Not a Happy Choice of Narrator
Revisado: 06-24-13
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Barbara Leigh-Hunt has a grandmotherly voice that really detracts from the story, since it fits only the querulous older spinster characters.

Narrator detracts
Revisado: 03-17-13
If you could sum up Prince of Fire in three words, what would they be?
Gripping, as usual.
Did Guerin Barry do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
The narration was the weakest part of the audiobook. The main character, Gabriel, was voiced slightly hoarse and almost monotonal. It seemed such a bad characterization that getting immersed in the book was very difficult. The characters were switched in some dialogue and the pronunciation of Hebrew names was amazingly bad.

A great book for kids who like "not too spooky"
Revisado: 01-18-12
Would you listen to Billy Bones: Tales from the Secrets Closet again? Why?
Sure. The main character is engaging, the narrator is very good and the story is a real original.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Billy, of course, but there are so many entertaining characters it's hard to pick. Okay, I'll go with a few - Billy's friend Millicent, Dame Biglum, and Glass-Eyed Pete the pirate. They are all feisty and fun.
Any additional comments?
Peter Bishop's reading is a dead ringer for Neil Gaiman, which is weird! His voice and accent are eerily like Mr. G's.
