Swoony X-Men meets the first season of The Flash

I loved this twisty, action-packed story about a group of people who were granted power by a big event. At first, the Gifted are accepted and acclaimed. But then jealousy sets in and persecution follows. Reminds me of a Tricia Goyer WWII novel - a high compliment indeed! There’s also an X-Men meets that first fun season of The Flash on the CW vibe with distrusted heroes, people guarding their hearts, moments of fun heroism, romance, heartbreak, and deep sacrifice.

I adored Fen, a swoony, flawed guy with a broken heart of gold who wants to save everyone around him. He’s a bit of bad boy, a bit of superhero, and all heart.

I need book 2 immediately

What a stunning page turner! With math and hacking and double crossing at every turn, this was like a teen Mission Impossible meets Cinderella but better (and I’m a big MI fan). I adore Kai, the very charming but dangerous “prince,” and Madam is a villain I loved hating 😂. (I feel like she’s on par with Dolores Umbridge.) I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2!

Stunning part 2

What a thrill ride. With more twists and turns and tech, the author delivers another breathless page turner and I’m left with the urge to immediately purchase book 3 (and I will as soon as I finish this review😂). I was surprised by several directions the story took and that love triangle—ack!!! I have to know what happens and from the ending I think we are not even close to finding out if Jo gets the HEA I want for her! So good!

Swoony and hilarious

This was an absolute delight. Lots of swoon without the heat. I laughed , I cried, and I couldn’t wait to keep listening. The narrator did a delightful job, and I adore Cindy Steele’s up close and deep first person writing style.

A heartfelt, swoony romantasy

Heartfelt, swoony, emotional, cathartic. This one delivered all the feels. From Inara’s horrible experience in the wife market to Dhamar’s struggles with his father, I loved how the author showed two characters from two very different walks of life but both trapped. Dhamar might be a prince but he’s as much captive as Inara is in the wife market. I loved the layers of political intrigue meshed with a strong romance plot about a woman desperately trying to overcome her past and a young man desperately trying to overcome the ways of his father.
There is a lot of deep emotion, especially around the wife market and the girls imprisoned within. The author handles it with delicacy and care but good to be aware for some readers.
Loved it!!!
And the narrators are fantastic.

Worth the wait

I don’t want to spoil any part of this book, so all I will say is I loved the entire Alcatraz series even if I was a little shook by the end of book 5, and I absolutely loved this one. At first I was concerned I wouldn’t enjoy it as much being from Bastille’s point of view rather than Alcatraz’s, but she has such a great voice. Pure fun.

Fun story!

This was a fun Stranger Things meets Goonies tale of an unlikely group of friends coming together after their friend disappears. Witty, exciting, and plenty of danger. Definitely recommend!!!

Hilarious. My fav middle grade book since The Lightning Thief.

I loved this book! I read it and immediately bought the Audible version. I keep checking to see if book 2 and 3 are available here on Audible. I hope they get made soon! Great performance for an already awesome book.
