A wild ride from start to finish
Revisado: 02-04-25
I love the Saw movies, so I knew after learning the premise that I was going to enjoy this one. And it didn't disappoint!
There's a lot of fun, creative kills, and I enjoyed all the art references too. It kind of reminded me of another horror novel I enjoyed that delves heavily into the art world (It Rides a Pale Horse by Andy Marino) though the stories themselves are entirely different.
4/5 stars, would recommend!

Historia
Ren has a problem, and it’s not his heroin addiction. Or that he’s wanted for murdering his step-father. He’s being haunted by something far worse than the ghost of his dead sister. When he hitches a ride with Lefty, Jersey, and Geena, a group of itinerant addicts on the run from their own problems, he starts to believe maybe things are looking up. But there’s something wrong with Lefty. Something unnatural. Something that wants to see them all dead. Can Ren stop it in time, or will he end up torn apart on the side of the highway? Or worse?

Easy Five Stars!
Revisado: 12-25-24
This is one of those rare horror books that transcends mere entertainment (though don't get me wrong, I was wildly entertained!) and becomes a work of literary art. The prose is breathtaking, the characters come alive and leap off the page, and the story is fresh and original.
It Eats Your Hunger is a book about the darkness that lives deep inside us all. The fight we all have to get up off the mat and keep fighting every single day. It is dark and gritty and depressing at times, yet profoundly beautiful in that way that dark, gritty things can be when they're explored by a clear master of the craft like Mr. Polinger.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator for this story was equally fantastic. Whatever format you choose to enjoy it in, though, I simply cannot recommend this book enough. It's one that I already know is going to stick with me for a long time to come.
